Jewelled Wednesday by Louis Vuitton

I have to admit I only got round to reading December Vogue today, when the January issue is coming out any day now. It's been a busy month. But today I had my hair done at Tony and Guy, where apart from being pampered, I spent three hours catching up on magazines. Whilst I was flicking through it, I noticed this advert by Louis Vuitton and was amazed by the beautiful necklace. I was planning to do a post about statement necklaces today, but didn't expect to find this. It's so perfect! Total stand out piece. Probably a bit pricey, but with Christmas coming up.. You never know what you may find under the Christmas tree. A girl can dream right? Also I couldn't help but notice how great is Christy Turlington looking. I really need to know her beauty secrets.
Have a stylish day.

As you may know I am writing regularly for Futurespace magazine. Here is my latest article about very talented designer Alice Palmer. You can catch up with all my work for other magazines at the Press/Featured in section. Let me know what you think.

Outfit inspirations - colourblocking

Today's outfit is all about colour blocking. Winter tends to be dull and grey so why not brighten it up with a colourful outfit. This look is very girly and playful, perfect for lunch with friends. I would probably add a belt as well, but didn't see the right one. These are all latest arrivals on net-a-porter.com. What do you think?
Alice and Olivia dress £255
Miu Miu shoes £420
Marc by Marc Jacobs bag £440
YSL earrings £260
Burberry Brit biker £895

Introducing: Flik Hall

Flik Hall is definitely one to watch. After graduating at Central St. Martins and interning at names like House of Holand and Giles, she decided to start her own label in 2009. Her love for digital print is very visible and it's one of the things she's known for. Flik worked closely with octopus for her jewellery line, which she also designs, and it inspired her SS 12 collection. You can expect structured pieces in mostly soft muted colours. It's very romantic but full of contrasts, combining feminine fabrics with leather and neoprene.
When I saw the collection up close, it looked so equisite, I loved every piece. You can see how many pictures I took. The attention to detail is great. Flik's label is still very new, but she has already plans for footwear and much more. So far her work has been featured in Vogue Turkey, Elle US, Grazia, InStyle to name just a few and I think there will be many more in 2012. Stay tuned.
Have a stylish day.

Butter for your nails

I promised you a lot of sparkle coming up to the party season and I'm loving these! I mentioned Butter nail polishes before, after I had my nails done at G Star Raw party and I can tell you now, I never had more compliments on my nails. Back then I picked gold glitter colour and it looked amazing. They are sold exclusively at Harvey Nichols, where I finally managed to get my hands on them last week. They are non-toxic therefore not harmful to your nails. The colour selection is second to none. The have three stands of every shade imaginable. I loved all the glitter ones because they are a great way to add a bit of sparkle into your life, especially the glitter trio box, that will save you money rather than buying them separately. Perfect stocking filler. You can also but them on Butter website.

Vintage Sunday

December is just round the corner and with it all the December covers will have come out (although most of them come out in November, so this is kind of good timing for this post.) With New Year coming, I tend to look back over the past year, compare what went well and wrong and make goals/resolutions for the future. Many pople also look back at the best fashion moments, magazine covers and so on of that particular year, but I took it step further and looked at some good December covers from the past. Interestingly two I really liked were both with Kate Moss, shot by Nick Knight. Here is one from 1995. I like how cheeky it is. A naked model on the cover of Vogue? To be honest I don't think anyone but Kate Moss could pull it off. Also how many times every woman in the world said, she has nothing to wear. Countless. But you can count on Vogue to sort your problem. Genius idea! To see the other cover I liked, check my tumblr.

The magic dress and Online Fashion Week

Happy news fellow shopaholic fashionistas! Vogue magazine is organising Online Fashion Week from Monday to Friday Dec 5-9th and it's not to be missed! Countless of retailers will be offering exclusive collections, discounts, there will even be competitions! Expect online debates with industry experts and much more. Read the whole schedule here, although there are still more deals and surprises to be announced. As exciting as it sounds, the best news about it is, it's all in the name of a charity and hopefully we can all raise loads of money together.
Most deals still remain mystery, but I can tell you now, you'll get a chance to win a "Magic dress" by Young British Designers. More details how will follow but I'm already intrigued. They've been asking on Twitter what would your magic dress do and my first reaction was, it would be designed by Z-mode. YBD are a great on-line platform for emerging designers, supporting new talent. I have written about quite a few of their designers already including Imogen Belfield, Lucy Hutchings and most recently Lako Bukia and will definitely write about more. If you're not familiar with the site make sure you check it out. As if you need extra reason, but they are offering 25% off dresses until Dec 4th! Hurry as this is a great offer.
And now back to Z-Mode. I met Victoria Rangayah who launched the label for SS 11 at London Fashion Week and she is so sweet. Most importantly she is really hard-working and talented, which recently paid off as she's been shortlisted for Fashion Scout. I honestly wish her best of luck with that. I will tell you more about her soon and will be bringing interview too. For now to give you an idea how pretty her dresses are I've included couple of pictures. The one shouldered piece I saw Zoe Hardman wearing at a fashion show and it looked stunning and the dark blue Cloud9 dress is a star on it's on. It's been featured in OK magazine and have been very popular with generally. I'm not surprised. You can buy both at YBD here.
Now just a question to be asked. What would your Magic dress be/do?

Outfit inspiration - mix and match

Today I decided mix and match more different brands and also re-use few items. This outfit is party ready, I fell in love with that sequinned top and built the rest around it. Decided to go for black skinnies, as that's such a wardrobe staple and everyone probably owns a pair. Pink accessories are really me. Love the necklace for amazing price and those shoes are too very pretty. And I can't get enough of animal print.. What do you think?
Alice and Olivia top £345 at net-a-porter.com
Adam skinnies £825 at net-a-porter.com

FFG X Coach party

As I mentioned earlier today, yesterday I attended a very special launch party thrown in for Emily Johnston from Fashion Foie Gras and a tote bag she exclusively designed for Coach. Fashion industry has a bitchy reputation, but I'm happy to confirm that Emily is a very sweet girl. And her party was hot! (including the waitress). I went with Camilla of Two feet ahead and we took the advantage of free champagne and free photo booth to the full. It was a fun night, launching a fab bag (see the pics below, including me "modelling" it). I met some lovely people and it was definitely a night to remember!

Jewellled Wednesday by Coach

Yesterday I had a great pleasure to attend launch of Emily's from Fashion Foie Gras launch for a bag she helped to design with Coach, but more about that later. For now let's concentrate on the jewels. Coach are a well known American brand with rich history, making high quality leather bags and other goods. I have to admit I didn't know much about their jewellery line, but it's definitely worth checking out. They've recently opened a new UK store on London's Bond Street, where the said event took place, and I managed to snap some pictures of the goods. I was swooning over the amazing cuffs, rings and I especially loved the necklaces. I'll be going back! They are perfect pieces that may be nice Christmas present or just a treat for yourself. If you're in that area (or Westfield where they have another store), make sure you pop in and check it out. You'll like what you find.
Have a stylish day.

Outfit inspiration

For today's outfit I chose a skirt that is a wee bit pricy from net-a-porter.com because I really liked it, but don't worry if you can't afford it, I used a similar gold one last week. I tried to keep the rest fairly simple so picked everything else from H&M.
Gucci mettalic skirt
H&M: Vest top £4.99, leather shoes £69.99, necklace £7.99, bag £14.99, ring £3.99

H&M's other collaboration

Compared to the hype of H&M X Versace collaboration, there's been relatively no press coverage about another, smaller, upcoming collaboration. And this one I am actually very excited about. When I first heard about Versace I couldn't wait to see it, but in the end it wasn't really me. I loved one (pink studded) dress but wouldn't queue up for it. To be honest, when there's too much hype about something, it tends to put me off.
That's one of the reason why I'm excited about the Sophia Neophitou-Apostolou limited collection, not only much less people seem to know or talk about it, the minimalistic designs are more my style. Full of timeless classics in mostly creams and blacks with gold accents and simple cuts, those are versatile pieces, wardrobe basics every woman should own. I can't wait to hit Selfridges, the only place that will be selling those exclusively, on Thursday November 24th when the collection comes out. I'm interested to see the prices and am glad that queues are unlikely. I shall report back to you.
Have a stylish day.

Let your earrings do the talking

Yesterday I realised, I haven't bought a pair of earrings for ages. The reason being I haven't worn any for some time. But that's a shame, because earrings are a great accessory! So I decided to have a look what's on offer and get some. And to make it fair, I've picked something for every budget. The first selection is from net-a-porter.com and the other from Topshop.com. Both equally pretty, there's not excuse not to add some shine to your outfits this festive season thanks to sparkly earrings. Now the tough decision is which ones to pick. Which are your favourite?
Have a stylish day.

Introducing: Funlayo Deri

Funmilayo Csilla Deri is Nigerian born, London/Budapest based designer, who launched her label in March 2011. With two collections under her belt, you can already expect big things from her.
Hers are real stand out pieces, without being over the top, more in classy timeless way made in luxurious fabric with great cut. The signatures are great attention to detail and interesting detailing like cut outs.
