Jewelled Wednesday - by Zara Simon

Zara Simon is 31 and lives between London and Ibiza. She studied Jewellery Design at Central St Martins College and straight after got an internship with Stephen Webster. Zara began her jewellery label 4 years ago and counts celebrities such as Thandie Newton, Amber Le Bon, Poppy Delvigne, Jacquetta Wheeler and Lily Donaldson among the fans of her beautiful designs.
6 collections later, Zara is doing better and better. She's collaborated with Felder Felder for last two seasons and the pairing seems to be a match made in heaven. Availabe to buy in UK and Ibiza now, but I expect more counties to be added soon.
I love her intricate designs and interesting details. I sometimes find it difficult to find great gold toned jewelry as it can be all too samey on the high street and some designer stuff is way too expensive. This fits the bill perfectly. I'm definitely planning to buy few pieces for my jewelry collection. I'm especially coveting the pendants and statement rings.
Have a stylish day.

McQueen exhibition in London

I am very excited about this! I count myself as one of the biggest Alexander McQueen fans. I so wanted to see his Savage Beauty exhibition at New York's Met museum I booked flights to NYC in no time. But due to unforeseen circumstance I couldn't make the trip, therefor missed the record-breaking exhibition. I was sad and to be honest couldn't understand why it didn't take place in London (Lee's home) in the first place. I wasn't the only one who thought McQueen should be honored here and was glad to find out there are people out there doing their best to bring this must see exhibition here.
One of them is Melanie Rickey the editor-at-large at Grazia Magazine. She started a petition on her blog, that was signed by more that 2000 people so far (me one of them), but that wasn't it. She did more and it's all looking positive.
Read all the details here, where you can also sign the petititon. The more signs the better!
So fingers crossed and hopefully we can all see this display of McQueen's magnificent work in London soon.
Have a stylish day.

The Schiaparelli Suite at Mayfair hotel

When I was searching for yesterday's Vintage Sunday picture, googling Schiaparelli, I came across images from the Schiaparelli Suite at Mayfair Hotel in London. You can imagine how much I love it colourwise, but there's more to it. I like the mixture of modern and antique, with oriental notes thrown in the mix, everything about it is perfect. I wouldn't mind staying there for a bit. I love interior design nearly as much as fashion and find this so inspiring. What do you think?
Have a stylish day.

Vinage Sunday by Elsa Schiaparelli

The rumor has it, that the next exhibition at the fashion institute in Met museum in NYC will be dedicated to Miuccia Prada and Elsa Schiaparelli. After the record breaking McQueen exhibit, they've got hard shoes to fill, but I think these two ladies are up to the challenge. I can already imagine the stunning gowns inspired by them at the next Met Ball gala.
Both of these Italian power women are/were very innovative. Prada's influence in today's fashion world is legendary. Schiaparelli had lots of "firsts" in fashion and she created a runway show as we know it. So to those looking forward to fashion week and attending shows, let's thank Elsa for the idea.
Therefore I think it's more than appropriate to dedicate today's Vintage Sunday to her. Here comes one of her designs. She created many and it's a shame she didn't continue her business after World War 2. Who knows what other genius ideas she may have had.
Have a stylish day.

Party feet by Christian Louboutin

It's Saturday again, which means Party feet and also long bank holiday weekend (for those in UK), so it's a lot to smile about. Yay! Lately I've been thinking a lot about wardrobe staples. I'm all about timeless pieces. I watch tre trends and buy bits and bobs, but my wardrobe mostly consist of timeless classics. One that seems appropriate for many occasions is a pair of nude heels. They go with everything and have great leg lengthening effect, which is always a good thing. I found this pair from Christian Louboutin at net-a-porter and can't stop thinking about them. Although they're very timeless the heel makes them look very contemporary. Also the straps make for an interesting effect without being too much. buy them here.
Have a stylish day.

Get cozy with DKNY

There are things in your wardrobe that every woman should own. Like LBD, good pair of jeans, well cut blazer and so on. I've recently discovered something that I'm definitely adding to that list.
A cozy! Don't know what it is? It's a kind of wrap cardigan that can be worn tons of different ways. See the video below to give you more ideas and ways to wear it. It comes in different fabrics and colours and seems so perfect for English weather. An extra layer is always needed and when it's as practical as this one there really is no doubt it's a must have.
Hooked? Thank @DKNY PR girl for introducing it. She posted this video on DKNY tumblr and after watching it, I decided I really needed one. Her tumblr and twitter account (@dkny) are both must follow for anyone working in fashion or trying to break into the industry. She's a well placed insider who's sharing the info. I'm very honoured to be followed back by her on twitter. So if you haven't done so yet, check out her blog and her tweets.
Have a stylish day.

Dreaming of... Balmain diffusion line

Fashion is so exciting. You can never be bored or really stay ahead of the game as there is always so much happening. Fashion weeks twice a year, resort and pre-fall collections in between, Fashion's Night Out, upcoming designer collaborations.. The list goes on. One of the things I'm really looking forward to, is for the Balmain diffusion line to come out. We have to wait until December for this to happen, but there's no harm in having a sneak peak of what to expect. Balmain is known for great pants and structured jackets and more. They've been setting trends for quite a few seasons and judging by these pictures, I expect none less from the cheaper line.
The good news is, the prices will start at about £100, the bad news is, it won't be designed by Oliver Rousteing, Christophe Decarnin's successor (who resigned earlier this year). The French house says it will still have the same rock essence but will be more casual and relaxed. Whatever that means, I can't wait to see the whole collection and of course buy few pieces.
Have a stylish day.

Stylish homes - dress up your Iphone/Ipad

(The regular feature is back!) Let's face it. To be without modern technology these days is unthinkable. I can't imagine my life without iPhone any more (whatever we did before them!) and I finally gave in to iPad too and getting it this week. In the business of blogging, and any other business for that matter, you have to keep up with what's going on and these gadgets are simply essential. Good news is that the designers want us to remain stylish in every aspect of our lives, therefore there has been a boom in accessories for technology. The selection is amazing and you can really match it to your wardrobe. It won't surprise you that I bought a pink croc leather iPhone cover by Mulberry (it's sold out now!) and I'm already planning how I'm going to dress up my IPad.
Here's a little selection of covers for both iPad and iPhone and also couple for Blackberry (not to make them feel left out).
You can buy all the following at net-a-porter.com including some Mulberry ones, and the rest at Mulberry.com. So which is your favourite? It's hard to pick..
Have a stylish day.

Jewelled Wednesday by Michael Kors

It is no secret that I am a big fan of Michael Kors. I treated myself with his watch for my 30th birthday this year and I own some of his clothes and handbags too (definitely getting more). I'll be more than happy to add his jewelry as well, especially after seeing these images. The collection features statement gold neck and wrist cuffs, chain bracelets, crystal drop earrings and leopard print bangles and more, with prices starting from about £60. Good news! Shop at Michaelkors.com.
Have a stylish day.

Product I can't live without

I've discovered another product that's already made a massive change to my life (hair). From using straightening irons and colouring my hair (don't we all) my hair is quite damaged and very dry. I always use hydrating masks and leave in conditioners but the one I was using has been discontinued. Luckily my stylist at Tony&Guy has recommended Elixir K Ultime by Kerastase and I'm hooked already. Not only it gives my hair amazing texture, it tames it and smells divine too! I can see a big difference after I use it. You can put it into both wet and dry hair and it's a simple way how to refresh it. Can you tell how much I love it?
Have a stylish day.

Michaela Kocianova for Vogue Italia

I'm very excited to announce that I'll be a regular blogger for Czech Elle. Those who follow me on twitter probably know about this already, but I wanted to share this news with you here as well. I'll post the link when it's all ready.
To celebrate I'm bringing you another editorial featuring Czech model, this time gorgeous Michaela Kocianova by Greg Kadel for Vogue Italia. Doesn't she look stunning! I promise to show you some editorials from Elle CZ soon as well - it only seems appropriate. I'm going to Prague soon some I'll stock up on Czech magazines. It's my pre fashion week trip to relax with the family and get pampered for a fraction of UK prices. Can't wait!
Have a stylish day.

Vintage Sunday by Guy Bourdin

Both polka dots and the sixties are big next season. Maybe the designers got their inspiration from this picture of Jane Shrimpton by Guy Bourdin from April 1966. I wouldn't blame them. Everything about it is great. What do you think. Hope you're enjoying your (vintage) Sunday.
Have a stylish day.

Party feet - by Brian Atwood

The fashion world has been full of great news lately, don't you think? With all the exciting collaborations, designer items at high street prices and more and more labels doing diffusion (cheaper, more affordable) lines. Even Victoria Beckham is planning one and I really can't wait to see what she considers more affordable, I don't doubt it's going to look great.
Another one I'm rather pleased about is by certain Mr. Brian Atwood. The great New Yorker has been causing a stir with his fab footwear and his Maniac shoes have become a wardrobe staple. For those who cant afford a pair of manic BAs here's some good news. Brian just released a line called B Brian Atwood and you guessed it, its cheaper! Music for my ears! Here's a preview of few styles priced from £190-640, but there's more. I love!
And guess what. The ad campaign is as hot as the shoes. You can see few images of it on my FB fan page. Now which one to go for..
Have a stylish day.

London - the fashion capital

London is a great place to be right now. I mean I've always loved it for its fashion, architecture, cultural scene etc. but at the moment it's having its peak and I'm extremely excited to be living here.
And the world has noticed the vibe and cool status of London. It's just been named THE fashion capital of the world (no surprise there) and it just keeps on getting better. Just in the last few days there have been exciting announcements of international designer opening their stand alone stores. With the likes of Kate Spade jumping on the bang wagon, you couldn't find a better shopping destination. Adding to this, and the ones I'm most excited about, are the queen of Parisian cool Isabel Marant, New York hip label Helmut Lang and funkiest undies label around Victoria's Secret. Add to this places like Selfridges and Harvey Nichols and you really are spoilt for choice when it comes to retail therapy. So credit cards at the ready and see you around.
Have a stylish day.
