Vintage Sunday

Another Vintage Sunday featuring John Galliano, or specifically his design. Did I say I love him? And want him to make a grand comeback? I may have done.. Oh well. He's a very talented designer and it would be a shame to waste such talent.
And I of course love black and white photography. This one is from 1993 French Vogue. Model Shalom Harlow was photographed by Ellen von Unwerth. Do you like it as much as I do?

Party feet - by Zara

Yesterday I wrote about my trip to Zara and about my purchases there and today I'm going to add to it with a pair of shoes. They are definitely party worthy so I had to include them in today's Party feet post. I am obsessed at the moment with this kind of cigarette heel. It looks so elegant yet sexy and very modern. I like how it gives these otherwise quite simple black shoes that special something. I can tell you now I'm going to be way too tall in them but oh well, I guess sometimes I just don't care. It was love at first side. They are suede which isn't the most practical, but it gives them luxurious feel plus suede is very big right now. I like this kind of pointy toe, I prefer it to round one. The shoe-boot shape is great great, meaning they will fit into any season well. And did I mention they're only £59.99? Result!

Buy of the week

Last couple of weeks the Buys of the week were designer. And let's face it, not everyone can afford designer, or at least not all the time. So today I'm bringing you high street treasures. Yes plural! I've got two great products I bought yesterday and loving very very much. I popped into Zara - without a doubt my favourite high street store. I wanted to buy everything! In the end I walked out with three items, one of which is a pair of shoes I'm going to show you tomorrow for my Party feet post - stay tuned as they are HOT.
So the first thing is python print shirt for £29.99. I've been after one for a while. Animal print is huge and snakes are my current favourite. It looks very much like one by Equipment but for a fraction of the prize. It feels nice on the skin and I already have million outfit options in my head. It's an easy way to dress up your skinnies. I bought mine one size too large to balance the proportions. I also love tying shirts at waist. It gives a cool edge to prim skirts and smart pants.
Second item is a golden threads boxy jacket. It's very Rachel Zoe whose style I admire. I love that it seems very sparkly and dressy but looks great with jeans. Perfect for many occasions. I've been after something like this for a while. It cost decent £69.99 and I can tell you now, I'm going to wear it A LOT.
Do you like my choices? What have you bought recently that you really love? Share your buys. (Sorry about the quality of pictures - my computer doesn't seem to be cooperating..).
Have a stylish day.

Stylish homes with DKNY

Stylish homes feature is back! It's been a while since I wrote about the other stylish things apart from fashion and accessories but as a big interior design fan I'm glad to bring it back. This may not be as much about your home though but rather about your office or stationery cupboard. What better way to thank people, invite them to anything, wish them good Christmas or New Year and so on than on stylish cards. Well I think this collection of DKNY PR girl for Cocodot.com is what every design lover should have. - I mean this woman know what she's doing! Imagine people's faces when they recieve an invitation as pretty as this. I'd be delighted. They are so cool and they have so many different styles for various occasions. I know where I'm getting my Christmas cards from this year. And not just that. I want so many styles. Don't you just love them? See and shop the whole selection here.
Have a stylish day.

Jewelled Wednesday by Aurelie Bidermann

I posted about Aurelie Bidermann's jewellery couple of times before (read it again here and here) as I am a big fan of her designs. When I checked today's new items at net-a-porter, they had these funky bracelets by the French designer and I wanted to share them with you. I think they are really cool and playful and will brighten up any outfits. And at £65 they are rather easy to justify. There may be a good idea for a present too and with Christmas coming up, they may be just the right thing. Buy these and more here.

Cover girls at Vogue Paris

This editorial in November issue of Vogue Paris is simply great. Not only it has a bunch of models I rate highly - including Isabeli Fontana, Karolina Kurkova, Izabel Goulart - and Natasha Poly, Arizona Muse and Hanna Ben Abdesslem, they all look rather great. It's a beauty shoot using one brand of make-up in each photo. It's styled bu Emmanuelle Alt, who has been doing great since taking over the reigns of French Vogue, and is photographed by Inez and Vinoodh. I really got inspired by this to try some new make-up, I've been stuck in a rut a bit. I'll let you know, how I got on. You can see more pictures at my tumblr.
Have a stylish day.

Denisa Dvorakova in Czech Marie Claire

As I mentioned earlier today I'm having a Czech day today hence this post. Denisa Dvorakova covers November issue of Czech Marie Claire and stars in all black and white editorial. It's set in artist's studio, which gives it interesting appeal. The whole shoot features only Czech designers, but unfortunately I haven't got all the credits. I hope you'll enjoy it anyway.

Vintage Sunday by Galliano

Dior still haven't found a replacement for John Galliano and to be honest I'm not surprised. They've got hard shoes to fill. I'm still hoping there will be some kind of miracle and they'll decide to take Galliano back. Maybe that's why they're still waiting..
Either way he remains one of my favourite designers and I decided to dedicate him another Vintage Sunday. Also for the fact that I've always loved this picture of Czech model Hana Soukupova in Vogue spring 2006. I'm having bit of a Czech day on my blog today (more coming later). Doesn't she look so pretty dressed in Galliano? Romantic is what he does best and I love how it's finished with soft make-up and disheveled hair. Perfection.
Have a stylish day.

Indtroducing: Clemency London

The background of Alison Clemency-Buddenhagen, the designer behind Clemency, is rather impressive. She studied Fashion Design at London's Central St. Martins and Fine Art at Parsons in New York. She worked as a Designer and Creative director for Armani, Calvin Klein, Trussardi, Katherine Hamnett, Joseph and Burberry before launching Clemency London. As if that wasn't enough she can also put a music journalist on her CV.
You'd expect great things from a person like this and you wouldn't be mistaken. Her designs are the perfect cool pieces that fit into any wardrobe. The SS12 collection is full of great separates for effortless dressing. I'm especially loving her colourful leather jackets with the hot pink one being my favourite (no surprise there). Stocked at Harvey Nichols and YoungBritishDesigners.com among others, you'll find you want to buy it all. And no one would blame you.
Have a stylish day.

Party feet - by Lara Bohinc

Yey it's Saturday again and time for Party feet post. I'm on a look out for some nice ankle boots and these by Lara Bohinc fit the bill perfectly. Her style never disappoints me. I like the point shape and heel that is high, but not too much. You can count on Lara on some interesting detailing - the buckles are so cool. The Tatiana style looks very sophisticated with an edge, just how I like footwear to be. I want them all. For these and more check larabohinc.com
Have a stylish day.

Buy of the week

I'm not a big fan of green colour, but this below the knee pencil skirt by DvF caught my attention straight away. It's the perfect stand out piece that can be worn many ways. Wear it with chunky knit and boots for casual lunches, with courts and a blouse for work meetings and statement heels, boob tube top and big necklace for night out. Really the possibilities are endless. The length is very in and continues to be a big trend for spring. I love the contrast metallic waist band that gives it cool age. Definite investment piece available at Matches.com and you can buy it here.
Have a stylish day.

Jewelled Wednesday - by Maria Francesca Pepe

I first discovered MFP designs in February at London Fashion Week's designer's exhibitions. Her designs really stood out for me, but I lost my notes and never really wrote about her. Thankfully she was again exhibiting this September and finally I got round to writing a proper post she deserves. I'm in love with her SS 12 collection. So interesting and fresh. It really proves Italians are masters of design.
Maria Francesca Pepe is London based Avant-garde label of high end jewellery, set up in 2007 by Italian designer Maria Francesca Pepe. The Central St. Martins graduate's designs became a hit straight away with international press and buyers like Dover Street Market. Today she gets sold all over the world, having done some interesting collaborations with Amanda Wakeley, Emilio De La Morena and Topshop to name a few. She also designed four head-pieces in collaboration with Nicola Formichetti for Lady Gaga. The list of her achievements goes on. Hers are real stand out pieces and I really need some in my life.
In UK you can buy Maria's stuff in aforementioned Dover Street Market or at online places like YoungBritishDesigners.com - great platform for young talent and amazing place to discover new up and coming designers, Topshop.com and many more. Discover more about this great label at MFPepe.com.

Designer v High street

I said this many times before, and I'm going to say it again. British High street is one of the best. I am all about mixing designer and high street for creating unique looks and there's no better place than UK. It is a well known fact, that high street stores get inspired by designers and you can see their versions of whatever was seen at the catwalks for fraction of the price. Some such items are good, some not so much.
Look at these shoes for example. Many fashion editors and fashionistas were crazy for the Miu Miu glitter booties. I have to admit I wasn't such a fan. But I'm rather liking the Topshop version. At £80 I'd even consider buying them but I'm trying to stay away from too high heels (I'm 5'11). If you fell in love with the Miu Miu ones but couldn't afford them or missed out (they're sold out in many places), I say Topshop is a way to go. Buy them at  topshop.com.
I'm contemplating doing regular Designer v High street feature. What do you think? Would you like to see more posts like these?

Isabeli Fontana for Vogue Paris

Over the last year, I've become somewhat obsessed with Isabeli Fontana. I think she's one of the hottest models at the moment. I love everything about her photoshoot for Vogue Paris, styled by Emanuelle Alt and photographed by Mario Sorrenti. I like the fact that there's quite a lot of black and white photos (I'm the biggest fan), although it's a shame you can't see Isabeli's gorgeous blue eyes. The styling is quite simple, but that's all you need with this stunning model. Notice the same belt in many pictures, proving that a great accessory goes a long way. You can see more on my tumblr and FB page.

Buy of the week

This has always been quite irregular feature but it's been quite popular, so I decided to make it a regular one. And it makes sense, because doing what I do, I always come across lots of great items. So I'm going to share them with you. Same may be a total bargain (like last week's H&M's coat) and some not so much (like today's item). Either way, it's always something I'm loving for one reason or another.
I am a sucker for animal print with snake one being my favourite, which is a bit odd, as I'm petrified of snakes. But hey they look good in shapes of handbags, shoes etc. (Cruel?).
These Christian Louboutins are absolute stunners. The red sole gives the the perfect finish, but the heel, the shape.. I love everything about them. A bit pricy at £955, but worth every penny (Loreal's - Because you're worth it springs to mind..). Women can never have enough shoes and I think every wardrobe needs these. Can you imagine a better way to dress up any old LBD? Just in at Net-a-porter, you can buy them here.
Have a stylish day.
