Nancy Van Ostren

This is the dress that made the biggest impression on me at London Fashion Week (off catwalks). LFW is not just about all the established designers parading their designs on the runway. There is so much more going on and it's all very exciting. The exhibitions at Somerset House is where new talent gets discovered. For me the best this year is Nancy Van Ostren. Her collection was very me so it's no wonder we got on really well. She said I looked out like jumped out of her AW 11 lookbook. Colourwise yes - it's mostly black, white and pink - my favorite colours. I loved her designs and am going to bring you more pictures soon (btw the colour of this photo doesn't seem very accurate). Hopefully I'll get an interview with her as well so be patient. It's worth the wait.
Have a stylish day.

Vintage Sunday - by Antonio

Yesterday I went to see amazing Fashion Illustration exhibition in the Design Museum and left mesmerized. For anyone interested in fashion or fashion illustration it's a must-see. It finishes next Sunday so if you get a chance go see it. It shows history of fashion illustration dating back to 1920s and how it changed and developed throughout the years to modern age. They have some great work of Rene Gruau about who's exhibition at Somerset House I told you before. Check it again here.
Of all the other artists, Antonio (Lopez) made the biggest impact on me and that's why I want to show you some of his work in today's Vintage Sunday. His style varies but all the pictures look very glamourous and I wouldn't mind to put a piece of his art in my walls. It's not surprising that his work appeared in magazines like Vogue, Harper's Bazaar and Elle to name just a few. What do you think?
Have a stylish day.

Put a smile on your face (or clothes)

Nothing brightens your day more like seeing friendly, smiley face. Especially in these grey winter months, we have to hold onto anything that will cheer us up. That's why I love this clothing brand Smiley, that I discovered at London Fashion Week. What an ingenious idea to put a smiley on clothing. I dare you not to feel more positive whilst wearing some of these designs. The cool casual collection caught my eye instantly and I can't wait to bring you more looks and info soon.
Have a stylish day.

Party feet - something for everyone

I am very excited about today's party feet post. Not only both pairs of shoes I picked are pink, they are at two opposite price ranges, meaning something for every budget. The pictures is taken from this week's issue of Grazia, dedicated to shoes. I want so many of them! But these are both very me.
The raffia wedges from New look are buy of the week, because you can't get better for £29.99! I love wedges and these are perfect to add colour to any outfit, will be comfortable and look really cool.
The patent pink Lanvin are to die for. I've recently got a new obsession with block heel and this pair, despite the height, looks comfy. I want! No wonder they say it's front row favorite. They will instantly update any outfit. I'm going to start saving now..
Have a stylish day.

Stylish homes - by Missoni

A bit of distraction from all the frenzy of fashion month, I'm bringing you another post on stylish homes, this time by Missoni. My ideal home is quite minimalistic with not too much furniture, but lots of colourful accessories to give it personal homey feel. Missoni is perfect choice for achieving that. I especially love the bedding in their signature zigzag print and the colourful cushions (I'm a big fan of cushions). All of this is available at Selfridges website, but there is more. See and buy it a here.
Have a stylish day.

Milan Fashion Week - Gucci AW 11

I haven't even properly reviewed London Fashion Week yet  (I'm going to come back to it), but Milan Fashion Week started yesterday and two collections already caught my attention. And what collections they were! Gucci's 90th anniversary show yesterday was one of the best so far of them all. And today's D&G seems like one of my favourites as well from what I saw on twitter. Can't wait to check out the proper pictures. More about that tomorrow, today I'm going to praise Frida Giannini.
I wrote not so long about how she slowly won my heart and this season I only fell in love with her further more. The collection is sexy, sophisticated, luxurious.. those are just few superlatives that can describe it. You can expect python print (amazing!), fur, feathers... This collection truly has something for everyone. I love the use of colour and can't wait to be very colourful in the upcoming seasons. SS 11 biggest trend continues and I'm ready to embrace it fully. No wonder than that my favourite collections so far apart from Gucci are Sass and Bide (read my review here) and forementioned D&G.
Have a stylish day.

Louis Vuitton shop windows

On my recent trip to Mayfair (exclusive and expensive shopping destination in London), I went past Louis Vuitton shop windows and I thought I had to share them with those who don't live in London. They are great. Full of motion and eye-catching merchandise. There are two wheels one displaying shoes and the other one handbags. Looking at it you suddenly feel like a child at fun fair and these memories make you smile. And of course you realize you're an adult and you want to shop! Buy the whole Louis Vuitton collection, because everything is very desirable. Who wouldn't want a piece of something with the famous LV monogram.
Have a stylish day.

Jewelled Wednesday - Imogen Belfield

When I attended London Fashion Week, I've come across a very talented designer, who's jewellery is simply stunning!  Imogen Belfield not only makes great accessories, she is a very nice person too. It was really nice talking to her and I'm hoping to bring you an interview soon. She also promised to send me her AW'11 lookbook and I can tell you now, you're going to love the pieces. She likes experimenting with all different materials, including metals, gemstones, porcelain the list goes on. Her aim is to create pieces that are bold yet subtle, modern yet classic. I love! Here are few rings from her SS'11 collection available at youngbritishdesigners.com, see more here.
Have a stylish day.

Burberry Prorsum AW 11

My blog wouldn't be my blog, if I didn't write about Christopher Bailey's collection for Burberry Prorsum (I'm his biggest fan). The show that took place yesterday had a very impressive front row and was watched by thousands online plus quite a few people at Picadilly Circus in London, where I reported from (and tweeted live). For me Christopher Bailey changed how I look at many things. I didn't use to like military style, but in his way, it just looks great. And I never wanted a trench coat. I know I'm all about timeless pieces and a trench coat seems an important piece in woman's wardrobe, but I just never liked them. They seemed frumpy. Well that was before the king of design took over Burberry. Now I want them all. Every season! And yet again he showed us a stunning selection. The beginning had a coat in probably every colour of the rainbow and I applaud him for that. Lots of collections still seem to cling on blacks, greys and browns so it's nice to see colour. And the detailing! I especially love the belts that give the coats a nice shape and the tie belts with bows make it all very feminine yet strong and powerful. Oh and did I mention the dresses? No I just need to win a lottery...
Have a stylish day.

Meeting Alexander Wang at Liberty London

Alexander Wang needs no introduction. The New York based designer (with Taiwanese heritage) started his own label in 2007 after dropping out of Parsons School of Design. And he became an instant hit. Since then he launched a cheaper line T by Alexander Wang as well as collection of shoes and bags(which are all to die for, see pics below).
It was a great pleasure meeting him today at Liberty London. For those who may not know it, Liberty is a very cool shopping destination (you can buy Wang there) right in the uber stylish area of Carnaby Street and Kingly street. I loved their shop windows designed specially for the event in collab with Love magazine. After Alexander rushed to front row of Giles and straight back to Liberty for his own party.
Thanks to twitter I can report that among the attendees were Victoria Beckham, Henry Holland, Alexa Chung (who took on the DJ decks as well), Katie Grand and so on plus Beth Ditto performing!
I am pleased to say that Alexander was very sweet, talking to everyone and patiently posing with numerous people attending the event.
Big thank you to Liberty and Love magazine for organising this and of course to Alexander Wang.
Have a stylish day.
