Destination Denim @ Selfridges

We all love denim. It's a fabric that never goes out of style. Wherever you're going never forget your favourite pair of jeans, because no matter what occasion may arrise, it can be so easily dressed up or down. Therefore I can't wait to visit Destination Denim at Selfridges. This event runs between 3 - 5 February with series of special features on all of those days. Celebrities and well known bloggers will be on site giving advice on jeans and blogging plus there's much more. I can't wait to learn some new tips and tricks. I'm heading there on Friday and of course gonna bring you all the info. Maybe even see you there!
Have a stylish day.

Exciting collaboration

Back in November I wrote about a designer whose clothes I really love. When I found out that Sophie Theallet would be collaborating with Nine West for a collection of shoes all under $100 I couldn't be more excited. Today was the press preview of the collection in New York and I managed to get some pics of twitter. They're not that great but hopefully I'll be able to bring you more soon. Judging by these though, I think we are in for a treat. I'm not sure yet whether they'll be available in UK, but you can buy them online at Nine west website and they do international deliveries. I'm super excited because they will hit the stores early may and that's the time I'm going to New York so I will definitely snap some up. Stay tuned for more pics and info.

Mila Kunis - style inspiration

To be honest, before Black Swan, I didn't know anything about Mila Kunis (shame on me!). But since promoting the Oscar tipped movie and wearing a string of amazing outfits whilst on promoting tour, I took a notice of this beautiful actress. And I have to say at yesterday's Screen Actor's Guild Awards, to me, she was the best dressed. And in my top five at Golden Globes. Now I can't wait to see what she's going to wear to Oscars. Her red carpet choices very varied and I really like that. Whilst she wore some safe outfits, last night's Alexander McQueen dress was quite daring and Golden Globes Vera Wang's green gown was quite playful too. So well done to her. I'm hoping to see more of her off duty looks as well as I wonder what's her personal style. Stay tuned.

Another striking campaign with KK

I love to follow czech models, as they make me so proud. I am a big fan of Karolina Kurkova. She is so stunning and always looks great. I've recently come across this SS 11 campaign featuring her and Andrej Pejic for Jean Paul Gaultier. How amazing are these pictures! Quite provoking and very sexy, I'd say perfect for Gaultier. Well done to everyone involved.

Product I can't live without

Sometimes I have the urge to shout about s beauty product that I can't imagine my life without as it's making it easier and more glamorous. One like that is Thermal mask by Kerastase. Let's face it, no matter how fabulously dressed you are and how perfect your make-up looks if your hair isn't behaving, it all looks wrong. It all starts with good condition. Often styling, pollution and extreme weather are damaging to your hair so make sure you use masks weekly. I love Kerastase products and this masks is exceptional. It's a bit pricey, but you only need a little bit so it will lasts you ages and it's definitely worth every penny. It smells great and will leave your hair nourished and silky. Result!

Vintage Sunday

I love simplicity. Today's Vintage Sunday's cover of Vogue dates back to 1950 and is a no brainer. Black and White picture that looks very contemporary despite being over half a century old. Timeless - I love!
Have a great Sunday and stylish day.

Diane Kruger - style icon

Diane Kruger has been on my radar for quite a while as she is always so impeccably dressed, often spotted in Chanel, but to everyone's surprise she wore this beautiful Chanel Haute couture creation just days after it appeared on catwalk! That seems very advanced even for her. But I'm sure she's good friends with Karl Lagerfeld for being such good ambassador for the brand that she can have anything she wants whenever she wants. And why not?! I'm sure after looking so chic as always it will only increase the sales. I love her style and can't wait to see what she'll wear next.

Party feet - by Valentino

Today I'm gonna feature two posts for party feet simply because I couldn't not share both of these styles. These Valentino's are must have for tall girls (like me) but everyone else as well. Whilst most of the time I don't mind towering over everyone in the room, sometimes I just really wanna blend in, but flats simply won't do. I've been looking for nice stilettos with slightly lower heel for ages and I've just found the perfect pair where else than net-a-porter. I love the pointy shape and the lace like design makes them interesting. Whether you're tall or not, sometime it's nice to wear lower heels and with these you won't compromise on great style and sexiness. LOVE!

Party feet - by H&M

This spring summer is all about colour so inject some with this gorgeous sandals from H&M, arriving in stores this week. Denim is a timeless classic so it will last you beyond this season and the blocked heel gives a nod to the 70s trend that has been big all over catwalks for S/S. Perfect to wear with flares and a blouse and make sure you have fun with mixing all different colours together. Add great attitude and you'll be ready to rock'n'roll.
Have a stylish day.

Buy of the week

This week I'm loving this handbag from Topshop! It's a buy of the week and won't break the bank - result! Let's face it, we all love Topshop. But sometimes there seems to be so much stuff, nothing really gets my attention. But this beauty caught my eye straight away. This boxed shape has been in for quite some time and is here to stay. It's quite vintage looking but very contemporary too and is a definite timeless piece. I love!

Made-over

Yesterday I had the pleasure of a make-over by lovely Becky from Laura Mercier at Space NK. I love that place because they stock great products, their stuff is friendly and knowledgable. Becky certainly knew her stuff and I was very happy with what she's done. I have to admit I'm not too adventurous when it comes to make-up, therefor I couldn't see what she'd recommend. Laura Mercier is a brand I really admire and couldn't help and bought two products in the end of my hour consultation. Both the foundation primer and secret camouflage are cult beauty products and sworn by by top make-up artists. If you're looking to try something different and don't know where to start or just fancy a change make sure you pop into your nearest Space NK or Laura Mercier counter in department store like Selfridges for your free consultation. They'll give you a colour chart in the end for future reference and I can guarantee you'll enjoy learning new tips and tricks. You're not obliged to buy anything but with such great products it's hard to resist.

Vintage Sunday

As this week I've been bringing you lots of Vogue covers from all around the world, I thought I may add one for Vintage Sunday. Dating back to 1917 that is an oldie. But looking great for its age. Love the delicate illustration. What do you think?

When Michelle wore McQueen

Earlier this week the first lady of United States Michelle Obama wore red gown by Alexander McQueen for state dinner with President of China. While I think she looked stunning (as always), it caused a bit of a controversy and she was criticised by the likes of Oscar de La Renta and others for choosing a dress by British designer rather than American. It's a hard call but I believe there's nothing wrong with not always wearing national designs. She looked (and probably felt) great and that's what's it all about. What do you think?

Party feet - by Jimmy Choo

Today's Party feet post goes to Jimmy Choo. It was an easy choice as these studded sandals caught my eye straight away. Tamara Melon is a clever woman and knows exactly what women want! What's not to like? Pretty, pretty, pretty, they will make you feel million dollars. Just add simple dress and let the shoes do the talking.

Be cuffed

I know it's not Wednesday today, so I just missed the jewellery day, but I had to share this with you never the less. Stunning 22-karat gold, pearl and Swarowski crystals cuff by Valentino. This would have a very special place in my wardrobe. Exquisitely made it's a timeless piece. New in at net-a-porter but hurry, I predict a fast sell-out.

Today's jewelled Wednesday's post go to Isabel Marant. The French queen of cool not only make great clothes but jewellery too. These obsidian earrings are perfect for every day, because they're quite simple but will add a great final touch to your outfit none the less. Tres chic. Available at net-a-porter.

Vintage Sunday

Today's Vintage Sunday post goes to this great photograph by Peter Lindbergh. I fell in love with it straight away. It was taken in 1991 but looks as fresh today as it did back then. Note the amount of supermodels! They're all there: Claudia, Cindy, Naomi.. And you can see why they're still so popular to this day. The sex appeal is just uncompareable to most of modern girls.
This shoot is about luxury, with models dripping in Chanel, but it's very rock'n'roll. It gives the impression luxury is affordable to anyone, but in a good way. Or maybe they want to tell us to be glamourous anywhere, at any occasion. Either way it's very inspiring. I love!

Party feet - by Christian Dior

As embarrassing as it may sound, I gasped out loud when I first spotted these in a magazine (first at Vogue then InStyle, both UK)! That's how much an impact they made. I really like feathered accessories, including earrings and clutch bags, and these Christan Dior stunners literally tickle my fancy. In case you can't tell from the picture ( I've been playing with my new camera app on iPhone) they are purple and yellow, fresh for S/S 11. I like the way you tie them up around your ankle, giving them serious sex appeal. Perfect for the colour blocking trend that's going to be so big in the upcoming season. I love!

Show your stripes

Breton top is a timeless classic and something every woman should own. You can go a bit further with this stripy number by Vivienne Westwood Anglomania. It's so chic and easy to wear. Perfect for the days when you're in a rush a just want to throw something on, yet look effortlessly cool.Just add opaque tights and black shoe boots. It's quite a statement piece so keep the rest simple. Easy dressing couldn't be easier! I love! Available at net-a-porter.

Frida Giannini

Frida Giannini replaced Tom Ford at Gucci. That, for me, was good enough reason to hate her. And stop liking Gucci altogether. I couldn't help but watch her though. Hoping she'd sink the label into oblivion. And although I would hate to admit it, she's done a great job (not sinking anyone). There were couple of shaky seasons I wasn't that keen on, but otherwise she showed everyone what she's capable of. To design covetable pieces everyone wants to wear. The ad campaigns have been sexy and sophisticated, just like the clothes, that just keep getting better with each season. I especially love the S/S 11 collection. The 70's vibe is so Gucci and it reminds me of Ford's work whilst at the fashion house, but don't get me wrong. It's Frida's own take on the trend and with all the vibrant colours, I couldn't love it more. So it's time to move on and embrace the new Gucci era. Sophisticated and sexy as always, I give Giannini thumbs up. And with Tom Ford back on the scene, things couldn't be better in the fashion world. Therefore I can become Frida's official fan.

Dress up your iPad

Ok I admit it, I'm a shopaholic and online shopping is what I do best. I haven't been well since yesterday and today I'm spending the whole day in bed feeling weak. Therefor the options of what I can do are limited( I hate being bored). So I did a bit of research of what's new on all my favourite shopping sites. The top two that I check most often are net-a-porter.com and outnet.com, which you may have noticed if you read my blog regularly. This is what caught my eye today.
As Thursday is the stylish homes day, and I believe this sort of falls into that category, I simply had to share this with you. A very stylish iPad case by Vivienne Westwood Anglomania is something I believe we all need. Not only it will protect your iPad from any scratches, it will dress it up rather nicely, making every little thing of your life glamorous. And that's what's it all about. No? Especially in these grey months, waiting for spring I like to surround myself with pretty things. This is also practical therefor ticks all the right boxes. I simply must have it.
Have a stylish day.

Comfort with style

I'm always on look-out for nice flat shoes. Being tall, I don't want to always wear sky scraper heels and also for days off, when you wanna give your feet a well deserved rest, only flats will do. But why compromise style for comfort? Fortunately you don't have to, thanks to these beauties by Miu Miu, available at net-a-porter. I love animal print and these ballerinas are just perfect. Great with skinny jeans and a tee, they make a statement so keep the rest simple. Love!

Stylish homes - by Aubin & Wills

Today's post for stylish homes goes to Aubin & Wills. The sister company of Jack and Wills sells not only clothes, which I have to admit I'm not a big fan of as I'm not into preppy styles, but I love their accessories, that add a great touch to your place. These cushions are currently on sale at net-a-porter, so there's really no reason not to treat your home. The are quirky and will add an edge into whatever room you decide to put them in. I say, liven up your living room, they will brighten up your day.

Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen

It's not an easy job to step into someone's shoes let alone Alexander McQueen's. After his suicide last February Sarah Burton finished his nearly done collection for AW 2010 just weeks before fashion week and then later in it was announced she was named the creative director, to continue the legacy of Alexander McQueen. He was a creative genius and can't really be replaced but she did really well with her first collection, looking through archives and keeping the basic ideas done in her own way. The show got good reviews and here's a picture from magazine editorial with some of the pieces. I love! So well done Sarah! You haven't had an easy task but did really well. I can't wait to see the future creations and what she's going to do with the label.

Vintage Sunday

My last new feature (at least for now) is Vintage Sunday. Here I'm gonna be looking through archives of magazines and bringing you covers, editorials, adverts and any odd photos I'm gonna find and love. Starting today with a portrait of Karen Mulder on cover of Vogue magazine dating back to April 1991, photographed by Tyen. I was growing up in the time of The Supers and remember she was one of my favorites. Although they were all beautiful (and still ARE!) there was something about her that I really liked. This is a very good cover, simple just concentrating on her beauty. This shows that less is more. What do you think of this?

Party feet - by Christian Louboutin

This is my other new feature, this time dedicated to shoes. Oh yeahhhh, who doesn't like them. I read that Cinderella is a proof that a new pair of shoes can change your life and it's my new motto. So every Saturday as an inspiration for Saturday night, I'm gonna pick a pair of shoes that has caught my eyes that particular week. Starting with the one and only Christian Louboutin. Women and MEN go crazy over his red-soled beauties and they are favoured all over the world. Who wouldn't like to own at least pair. I fell in love with these straight away and yes, it's no coincidence that they are pink. But what an amazing shade. Perfect to add colour to your wardrobe and give a new lease of life to any old LBD. Wearing those, you'll feel like Cinderella and who knows? You may meet your prince charming as well. Available at mytheresa.com.

Rene Gruau exhibition

Here's a reminder about this great exhibition which is finishing this Sunday I want to urge you to go and see it if you can, before it's too late, as it really is amazing. Rene Gruau was a famous artist who collaborated with Christian Dior and back in the day when ilustration was used more than photography, he did a lot of adverts for the fashion house among other work. The two got on like a house on fire and so Dior gave Gruau a free hand and it was a good decision. His illustrations were different, sometimes provoking and caused a little controversy, but that can never hurt. This collection at Somerset House shows quite a lot from Dior's and Gurau's archives, including sketches, vintage perfume bottles and haute couture dresses, is very inspiring and not to be missed. Photography is not allowed, but I was cheeky a managed to snap few pictures to give you an idea what it's like, especially if you're going to miss it.

Nicole Richie - from geek to chic

Nicole Richie has come a long way. She covers February issue of Lucky magazine, looking better than ever. When the daughter of Lionel Richie appeared on TV starring alongside Paris Hilton in The Simple Life, she was quite fat (I feel bad for saying this), had a horrible taste in clothes and with all the hair extensions and too much fake tan, she couldn't been exactly described as a style icon. But that was all to change. She famously hooked up with stylist to the stars Rachel Zoe, who transformed her into a beautiful swan. Richie lost weight and even became too skinny at one point, but these days she just looks healthy, happy and glowing. Her style changed rapidly and she is famous for her boho look which suits her so much. Often seen in flowing dresses, loose tunics and pair of jeans, big hats and sunglasses, the improvement couldn't been more obvious. She turned her new found love for clothes into design and has two succesful labels Winter Kate - contemporary womenswear and House of Harlow 1960 - ethnic inspired jewellery. Both collections are easy to wear and affordable. Good business move!
Over the years she experimented with hair colour and few hair styles but now it seems she found herself and looks better than ever. Nicole recently got married and looked absolutely stunning in her Marchesa wedding dress. She has definitely become a style inspiration and I look forward to seeing her new collections, styles and what she gets up to. Good luck to her.
Have a stylish day.
