style chameleon - Rihanna
As the decade comes to an end I am looking back again over the last year and wonder who really stood out in the style stakes. The one person who comes to my mind is someone who has been topping best-dressed lists over and over again and got thumbs up not only for her fashion choices but ever changing hairstyles. And it is noone else that Barbados born singer Rihanna. Known as well for her outfits as for her music, Rihanna isn't afraid to rock any trend. Photographed in Chrispher Kane Baboon dress, sporting impressive shoulders in Dolce and Gabbanna and wearing THAT jacket by Balmain, there probably isn't anything she hasn't tried. And does she do it well! Hell yeah! Her choices didn't go unnoticed when she was picked to front an ad campaig for Gucci. She usually wears one designer head to toe and I would prefer it if she gave it her own edge by mixing and matching but I have to admit she looks hot. Loving her Louis Vuitton outfit, especially that pink skirt.. Her wardrobe is boasting in expensive pieces that some people can only dream of. Good on her. In my eyes she isn't a style icon, because I'm not sure what her style is.. Catwalk looks straight after they hit the runway? But she is definitely an inspiration.

nail it
Fashion isn't just about clothes, but the whole look. Don't think, that if you're wearing designer clothes head to toe and your face is scruffy, your hair is having a bad day or your nails are chipped, people will not notice. They will! And it will ruin all your efforts. Therefore I am gratefull for all the miracle beauty workers there are. And in big numbers! One of my favourites is Chanel Le vernis nail colour in black. It's very chic and goes with anything. It has a great lasting power and you only need one layer. Great for busy girls on the go. Black is timeless, sophisticated and cool. No wonder many celebrities are painting their nails black too. So no excuse for your hands to look less than perfect.
Have a stylish day.

sunglasses - an accessory for every season
Today's post was inspired by the lovely weather. It is a beautiful sunny day and I realized how important it is to have a good pair of sunglasses. It is an accessory you need in every season. Well here in England maybe less than in other countries, but we still get some sunshine and a pair of gorgeous sunnies is a must. My favourite style is aviators especially those by Ray-ban. I owe two pairs - one all black that goes with everything and one with gold frames which is more summery and goes well if I feel like wearing gold (I'm mostly silver girl). I think aviators are another timeless classic and by now you probably realize that's something I love. I like investing in pieces that will stand the test of time and just buying few bits every season to update your wardrobe. No need to buy into trends and renew all your clothes all the time. I also think they look really cool and can be easily worn with your casual clothes as well as with your dressier outfits. Perfect solution. Now let's just hope for more sunshine.

denim - timeless fashion
First of all I want to apologize for not being in touch for a few days for various reasons but now I am back and hopefully better than ever. I hope you all had a wonderfull and gorgeous Christmas, feeling like a million dollar and maybe recieving few new pieces for you chic wardrobe.
I decided to dedicate another post to denim as I am a big fan. It's such an easy to wear fabric that looks cool and has many ways in which can be worn. It's something that never goes out of fashion, although has its high seasons and also times when it's not talked about so much. Well next season will be on of the highs. After seeing the S/S '10 D&G collection by Dolce and Gabbanna I've realized how much I love denim. The whole collection is so wearable with a laid-back and cool feel but very chic so will suit many occasions. Also you can mix and match all the pieces either together or with a stuff you already own and it will just give your old clothes new lease of life. What's not to love? It was hard to pick just few outfits to show you, because I find the whole line adorable. I have to warn you though, the mini is back and is very short! But here you go, I hope you like it as much as me.
Have a stylish day.

My hero Tom Ford
This post has been inspired by an article I read yesterday in The Independent. I have to admit I never read The Independent, but they had a big article about Tom Ford with inch headlines on the front page, so I made an exception I bought it. I didn't read much else but the article was quite interesting. Tom is my all time favourite hero and I love, LOVE HIM! I'm gonna say this again and again but his era for Gucci was the best not only for Gucci, but for the whole industry. It was then when I mostly fell in love with fashion. It's all thanks to his sexy clothes, that I'm hoping he's gonna start making for women again. And it seems like it. He said after he'd made a movie he would come back to designing, so let's all hope so. The forementioned movie is called the Single Man and is tipped for an Oscar. He not only directed it but starred in it alongside Colin Firth, who was nominated and won an award for it at The Venice Film Festival. It's out in February next year and I can't wait to watch it. Ford is getting praises for whatever he gets into, so we can only wait with excitement to see what he will be up to next. In the meantime you can grab a pair of goregous sunglasses by Tom Ford or a perfume, that will not only smell great but will look very stylish on any dressing table. Here I've included a trailer for The Single Man. Amazing and breathtaking just like Tom himself!

SHOES
I have to admit this. I AM a shoe addict. I can never resist a new pair of shoes. I don't usually even need any when I'm buying some. I just love them. I believe a good pair of shoes make an outfit. AND there is so many styles.. You HAVE to have them all. This is my latest buy. Obsessed... The perfect pair of flat boots that looks great with skinny jeans and soooo comfortable. Yep just what I NEEDED! By Kurt Geiger.

R.I.P. Brittany Murphy
Another shocking death this year! 32-year old actress Brittany Murphy died of a heart-attack. It is so sad and unbelievable. What a great loss of a young talented star. She was a good dresser as well and I've picked few of her outfits. Known for pushing boundaries, quirky fashion and ever changing hairstyles.
In memory...

beauty secrets
In the last month I've been looking at the last decade in fashion and style. And what would a great outfit be, if your face or your hair looked scruffy. The overall look is very important. A bad hair day can literally ruin your mood and even when wearing the most beautiful clothes, you would't feel great. That's why I am thankful for GHD hair straightening irons. GHD stands for Good Hair Day and it lives up its reputation. I can't imagine my life without it!
My perfume Number 1 is Chanel Chance. It's my timeless classic and it's a scent I will never get bored off. I may have times when I wear it less but it will always have a special place on my dressing table.
In the last ten years I've tried and tested many products, trying to find those that work for me and find my own style in make-up. Even in beauty the styles come and go, but you want something that you can put on and it will lift your mood. These are the top essential I couldn't live without:
Clinique Superbalanced make-up - nothing beats a good foundation
MAC - face and body foundation
YSL touch eclat (THE best thing for under eyes circles)
Lancome Hypnose drama - gives you amazing lashes
Benefit Posie tint - for highlighting your cheekbones and giving them nice pink blush
Lancome Juicytubes - making your lips look irresistable

brighten up your day
Matthew Williamson
Michael Kors
Christian Dior
Christian Dior
I find winter so depressing! It's grey and it gets dark early and just seems very colourless. That's why I decided to look for ways to brighten up our days. In cold winter months I tend to dress in dark colours as well, which reflects my mood. But I'm about to change it. I found so many beautiful outfits on the autumn/winter catwalks that I realized there is definitely no reason not to go for bright colours, just because there is no colour in the nature now. Here I picked my four favourite pieces (not surprising that 3 of them are pink..) to inspire us all.
How beautiful is the dress by Matthew Williamson. The colour palette and the ruffle detail are gorgeous. You can pick any of the colours for your shoes and keep the rest simple. It's making such a statement no accessories necessary. I love it!!
The coat by Michael Kors was an easy choice. The strong pink just caught my eyes instantly. It's got such a luxurious feeling as well. It will instantly lift your mood.
As for the two Christian Dior dresses, what can I say. I am seriously obsessed with anything pink and these little numbers are so beautifully cut and just really simple but interesting. There you go. After seeing these bright beauties, doesn't life seem brighter?
Have a stylish day.

hottest accessory - snood
Matthew Williamson
Michael Kors
Christian Lacroix
Burberry (all pictures from style.com)
Let's face it - it's very cold outside and the weather forecast doesn't give us any hope for it getting warmer. So we all face a dilema, how to look and be warm without loosing fashion credentials. Worry you not! As there is a very hot looking accessory, that will not only keep you warm but also looks stylish and cool. I'm talking about the snood! The autumn/winter '09 catwalks were full of them and they have been decorating necks of many celebrities. There is so many options too. You can go for bright as seen on Matthew Williamson catwalk, or luxurious feeling with furry ones seen at Michael Kors, Christan Dior, Christian Lacroix or keep it simple-ish like Burberry Prorsum by Christopher Bailey. The possibilities are endless and if you can't afford a designer option, there is plenty on the hight street as well. No reason to be cold this winter, despite the weather. That's what I like.

trends spotting - sportswear
I like dressing up. It is so much fun and it makes me feel better. What is the point of looking scruffy?. I rarely wear track suits and in my eyes trainers belong to the gym, not into your wardrobe. But sometimes the occasions calls for being casual or for any other reason, being dressed up just wouldn't be appropriate. That doesn't mean you can't still be stylish though. And the good news is Nicolas Ghesquier thinks the same. His Spring/Summer 2010 collection for Balenciaga show you exactly how to achieve this. Looking dressed down, comfortable, but not loosing the glamour. It's seriously cool and I love it all. Casual clothes never looked better.
Have a stylish day.

Having winter blues?
For me the winter has been already too long and it officialy hasn't even started yet.. After the wettest November and what seems to be a very cold December, I can't wait to get rid of all the extra layers of clothing and start wearing something nice and colourful. I wanted to get over my winter blues and found blues that are actually fun with added feel-good factor. I'm talking about Alexander McQueen's spring 2010 collection. He is Mr. Cool with very creative brain and never fails to impress me. Flying the flag for british quirky fashion, he is the go-to designer if you're looking for something original. I absolutely love this collection. The colours are amazing, as are the details and shapes. The master of graphic prints didn't dissapoint and I can tell you they will be as big next season as they have been for the past few ones. To me it all looks so magical I am sure we're all gonna crazy for a bit of McQueen's style. Plus I can NOT forget to mention the shoes as there is only one way to describe them - WOW!
Have a stylish day.

purple rain
As I said before I have a thing for all things pink, especially fuchsia and raspberry. Although I have never been into purple. This has of course changed recently. Im becoming obsessed with the cool new colour and it's easy to see why. Not only are the shops packed with all different shades, but also the magazines promote it a lot and many fashionistas wearing it. It is THE colour of the moment and it's hard to resist. I don't like wearing much colour in winter, as it just doesn't seem to fit. But purple is a great solution for brightening up your palette of black, grey and navy. It's suble, but can look really cool. Plus there are so many shades out there, I guarantee you will find to suit you. You can do the easy route and just pick a scarf or a hat, or layer up a top or cardie with formentioned colours. I decided to show here, to do it full on. I found these two great dresses today browsing in Topshop on Oxford street. Both dresses have interesting shoulders which another trend I love. One shouldered dress is a timeless classic. It's very flattering to any shape and looks more expensive. With the second dress I love the sequin detail. Its very now, following the 80's trend. Both look amazing and can be dressed down for the day or dressed up for the evening. Just add opaque tights some killer ankle boots and you're ready to go.

a page in my diary
UK Jewellery Awards
Drapers Awards
Erdem - catwalks show
Today I wanna tell you more about what I do and have been doing for the past few months. Since I finished my course at London College of Fashion I have been gaining experience in tough fashion industry and loving every minute of it. I worked at a few events organized by RAH production company alongside stylists and learning the insider's tricks and trades. These include UK Jewellery Awards at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Sparks Charity fashion show, Pet-a-porter at Harrods and Drapers Awards. Luckily these people have been spreading good word about ne to people in the industry and last week I have recieved a very exciting phone call. Next week I will be working for BBC, shooting make-over programm Snog, Marry or Avoid, working as a part of the styling team. I can't wait and will share more info about this later.
When I'm not working I love to read magazines about fashion and lifestyle to keep up with what's going on and also visit galleries, museums and all sort of exhibitions, which is all really inspiring. On friday I went to see a catwalk show at the V&A Museum by designer Erdem and I really enjoyed it. Usually I work backstage and don't get to see the actual show, so it was really nice. The clothes were just so beautiful. Dresses with lovely detailing and interesting prints were the key items and I could definitely see myself wearing quite a few of them.

leg it
Sass&Bass - animal print leggings (net-a-porter.com)
Preen - leggings (net-a-porter.com)
Alexander Wang - leggings (net-a-porter.com)
Alexander McQueen - pink houndstooh leggings (net-a-porter.com)
For the past few seasons there has been a massive focus on legs. Lacy tights, patterns, leggings with prints, jeggings and so on are a way to go. There are so many amazing styles around it's not easy to pick. But when you do, the hard work is over. Because your legs are making a statement already, you should keep the rest simple, so just a nice jersey top or a dress is enough. Keep the accessories to a mininum as well. Although don't forget a great pair of shoe-boots or ankle boots, because with the attention to the bottom half of your body, the pressure is on. So here we found the perfect solution for the cold weather, plus they can be a cheap way how to update your wardrobe. Stay glamorous and warm, without spending a fortune. I've picked some amazing examples of what is out there, the choice is yours. Whether you go for animal print, dogstooth, lace, stripes, checks, the possibilities are endless, both designers and highstreet.

Fashion in Motion
Today I am very excited, because I am attending Fashion in Motion at my favourite Victoria and Albert museum. It's a series of catwalk shows by well-known designers, that they do once in a while. This time the designer is noone less than ERDEM MORALIOGLU. The half english, half turkish, Royal College of Art graduate is known for his beautiful dresses, use of bold colours and amazing prints. I can't wait to see the collection on the runway and of course report back to you.
He has done a stint in New York for Diane von Furstenberg, which can only be a good thing, and founded his own label Erden with ready-to-wear collection in 2005. Since then he has been very popular with celebrities and worn by the likes of Keira Knightley, Claudia Schiffer, Thandie Newton, Chloe Sevigny and the list goes on. Of course he has been recognized for his work as well. In 2007 he won the Swarowski British Fashion Council Enterprise Award and British Fashion Council's Fashion Forward Award in 2008. He was also nominated by the British Fashion Council for Designer of the Year of 2009. In four years since he entered the fashion world, that is quite an achievement!

British Fashion Council Awards
Kate Moss, Vivienne Westwood, sir Phillip Green (source style.com)
Grace Coddington (source style.com)
Last night was the night that many awaited in anticipation. It was the night of the British Fashion Council Awards, and what an evening it was! Full of celebrities and fashionistas dressed up for the occasion. I was really eager to find out who won the special London 25 award I told you about last month. It was voted by public and it was a one-off award to celebrate the 25th anniversary of London Fashion Week. Kate Moss was the winner, which I'm sure she deserves, as she's been a true fashion icon for years, flying the british flag with her style, that gets copied all over the world. She looked stunning on the night as well, living up to her reputation as a trend-setter.
Other winners included John Galliano for Outstanding Achievement in Fashion Design, Christopher Bailey as a Designer of the Year and so on. I was especially happy for Grace Coddington who won the Isabela Blow Award for Fashion Creator, which is given to a person, whose creativity has been a major inspiration and influence. She is incredibly creative and was the real star of the film September issue overshadowing Anna Wintour.

shoe addict
A girl can never have too many pairs of shoes. Just look at Carrie Bradshaw - she is a good example and an excuse for all of us shoe addicts. Not many things get me as excited as a new pair of footwear. And there are so many types, you have to have at least one pair of each. Like shoeboots, ankle boots, knee lengh, thigh high, sandals, stilletos, ballet pumps, brogues and the list goes on..I am a big fan of wedges for running around but nothing beats a pair of high heel strappy sandals that will lift any party outfit. With Christmas season upon us, there's a great excuse to treat your feet to these gorgeous beauties from Dune (available in their stores as well as online). Not only will you sparkle at any Christmas do and beyond, they will look great with a nice strappy greek style dress in the summer, releasing your inner goddess. Beautiful and practical!
Have a stylish day.
