Czech it out - czech beauties

As in Czech Republic we are celebrating Christmas on Christmas Eve (as in most of Europe), I am bringing you pictures of some Czech models, who caused quite a stir on the fashion scene, to celebrate Czech beauty.  Yesterday I dedicated a whole post to Karolina Kurkova because she is one of my favourites, but I feel bad for picking just one as there are so many. For example Eva Herzigova who is the original Wondebra girl and whos advert for ithe famous brand was very popular. Or Hana Soukupova. They couldn't get enough of her in Paris and she shot some beautiful editorials and campaigns there. And let's not forget Petra Nemcova who is a survivor of the famous Tsunami in Thailand and after the horrific experience she set up a charity to help other victims. There is also Daniela Pestova, who like most of the others was snapped up by Victoria's Secret. And the list could continue. The world can't get enough of  beauties from the original Eastern block and you can see why.  Let me know who's your favorite and also if you think there is someone else I should have difinitely mentioned.
Have a stylish day.

Karolina Kurkova - more than an angel

I am very proud to be writing about today's style icon, because like me, she is originaly from the Czech Republic. The 26-year old super model started her career very early and became the youngest model to appear on the cover of Vogue US. Karolina Kurkova is recognized all over the world and has covered countless of the most prestigious magazines, walked catwalks around the globe and has been a face of several campaigns. Plus she is one of Victoria's Secret Angels. And there's more. She had her first baby boy in October last year and returned to modeling in a record time. Karolina was named "Model of the Year" at the 2002 VH1/Vogue Fashion Awards, in part for her work ethic, having worked twenty-three weeks straight. She is not only a hard worked but also a well known humaritian. Beautiful and helping others. I am a big fan of her and proud to be Czech as well as her and wish her all the best in her career.
Have a stylish day.

Orange beauty

I was looking for a New Year's Eve dress and came across this beauty by Michael Kors. I'm not sure if it's good for such a night but I fell in love with it straight away. And that's something to say because orange is my least favorite colour. But I love how it's accessorised with gold and looks stunning. It reminds me of summer and it's probably more suitable for the warmer months. I imagine a New Year's Eve dress in darker, richer colours, so I will keep on looking for that although I couldn't not share this one with you. Available at net-a-porter it's an investment worth every penny. Beautifully made with lovely ruching, it will flatter every figure and hide well any holiday overindulgence.
Have a stylish day.

Chanel - timeless classic

Coco Chanel is the ultimate style icon. She revolutionised the way women dress. She was the one who started wearing trousers and used men's simplicity in women's clothes. She caused controversy but eventually people loved it. We should all thank her. Many designers are still inspired by her and her legacy continue.
Karl Lagerfeld is very good at keeping the original ideas of Coco and recreating them season after season, making beautiful clothes and accessories sought after all over the world. I love Coco's piles of pearls and a minimalism in her designs that still seems so fresh. No wonder vintage Chanel is so expensive, it looks modern and is definitelly a timeless piece. It's well worth investing in a piece of Chanel as it wil never date. People can't get enough of this luxurious label. Whatever it is: clothes, accessories, beauty and more you're guaranteed quality and style.
People often quote Coco, they dress like her, they use her as an inspiration. There have been countless books written about her and  movies about her live. People can't get enough of her. True style never goes out of fashion and she is a great example of that. Marilin Monroe famously said she wears nothing to bed except few drops of Chanel No 5. It's been years and years since she started her great label and I am sure it will continue to be very popular for years to come.
Have a stylish day.

Style up your walls

Attention art lovers! I feel ashamed that I've only discovered this very talented and hugely popular among celebrities painter Todd White, but better now than never. Some of his work is currently displayed and sold at The Gallery Rouge in St. Albans where I spotted his beautiful art work.
His canvases are very contemporary yet timeless. He loves people watching, observing and sketches ideas for his next work on whatever he can get his hands on (ie napkins..).
Since returning to his native US, he's become one of the most collectable and successful living artists in the world and I can see why.
I took instant liking in his work. Characters of his paintings seem like people you know or you wanna know. They all seem to be having fun and you want to join them. You wanna get to know them. It's very engaging. I promise to bring you more pictures soon.
Have a stylish day.

Carrie Bradshaw

Carrie Bradshaw is definitely a style icon. We were glued to our TV screens for six season to watch Patricia Field's creations and the in two movies as well. Although Carrie's style became more commercial and more designer rather than the fabulous mix of unknown, vintage and labels she still dresses well. I still get inspired by some of her outfits and love watching Sex and the city again and again for the stories and the fashion. Remember when she first wore her Carrie necklace? Everyone wanted one and you could get copies everywhere. She made statements and people love it. If the rumours are true there will be a movie number three. I wonder what story they'd come up with next, but mostly what the sassy ladies will be wearing! Let's hope the rumour is true and wait for another feast for eyes. For now here's few outfits from the past.
Have a stylish day.

Exit in Vogue

Yesterday the world of fashion was shocked by the news that Carine Roitfield was to leave her position at Vogue Paris! People started speculating why, what is she going to do next and most importantly who is gonna replace her. Whoever will get the top job, has a hard job to fill her high-heeled shoes. The queen of French chic has done a great job and I wish her best of luck in her next adventure.
I wonder if that's why Tom Ford co-edited one issue. To try before she leaves and to show other people how to do it. And I wonder if the rumours are true, that they may be doing something together next. Can't wait to see!
Here I'm looking at some of her great outfits. She fits well in my style icons month.
Have a stylish day.
