Halloween is coming

How the time flies.. We're already half way through October, meaning Halloween is just round the corner. There will be lots of parties around and with it a perfect opportunity to dress up and get creative. In case you're stuck for ideas I'm bringing you a little inspiration from one of Carine Roitfield's parties - The Vampire Ball. Vampires are tres cool at the moment, what with Twilight and many TV series, so now is your chance to show your take on the "trend". Perfect time to be playful with your make up ala Roitfield ladies ( both Carine and Julia otherwise kept it quite simple and chic) stand out with interesting headwear like Anna dello Russo with Giles' SS 12 swan and don't forget little details. Olivier Theyskens went for colored contact lenses, whilst Abbey Lee Kershaw picked fake teeth to finish off her outfit. I'm also loving Ciara in Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci, whose fake blood is cool enough.
Looking at these got me well excited for Hallowen and I'm already planning my outfit. Are you? Are you going to any parties?
Have a stylish day.

Jewelled Wednesday by YSL

One of my favourite shopping destination in London, after Selfridges, is definitely Mayfair. Not only there is wide selection of great butiques, I like the area for its architecture and atmosphere. There's just something about it! Whenever I'm around I always make sure I pop into the YSL store om Old Bond Street. I'm sucker for their stuff, especially handbags and jewellery (shoes are too high for me - I'm 5'11 already..). I'm a collector of arty rings. Well I've got two at the moment but I'm getting another one for Christmas and plan on adding more. When I visited last week I took few pictures of their lates pieces. Apart from the arty selection I'm loving the chunky necklace and bracelet and... oh well everything. I am addicted! Which one is your favourite?

Vintage Sunday at National Portrait Gallery

Ok this post is a lot about last Friday's event so the title may seem confusing, but it was all about the 20s to 40s hence Vintage Sunday.
One of my favourite things to do in London (apart from shopping) is visiting the countless amount of galleries and museums the British capital has to offer. National Portrait Gallery is one of my favourite not only because of their permanent displays, they also often have really exciting exhibitions and events like Late Shift Extra on Fridays and Thursdays. Last Friday was an event called Glamour Factory in conjunction with their current exhibition Glamour of Gods. it's a display of mostly black and white photographs from golden era of Hollywood. Most of them defined careers both of the stars and the photographers. You can expects portraits of people like Rita Hayworth, Ginger and Fred (see sneaky pic below), James Dean, Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe and many more. Interesting part is where they show how they used to retouch photograps in those times. It's a great display and well worth seeing. Maybe a good way to spend Sunday? But hurry as the exhibition finishes on October 23.
Now back to the event. It was very popular indeed with more than 4000 people attending. The dress code was black and white (I've included picture of me and my friends in our monochrome outfits) and it was all about fun. There was a DJ to provide great music from that era and performances including 20s flapper dancers. Cult label Illamasqua did very glamorous make-overs, there were talks, walk of fame, where you could draw your hand and make your mark and much more. It wasn't the first Late Shift event I attended and I'm already looking forward to the next one.
Have a stylish day.

Party feet by Alexander McQueen

Earlier this week I already wrote about Alexander McQueen's show in Paris but because I am such a big fan of his work( and now Sarah Burton's) I think they definitely deserve another mention. The SS 12 collection was of course spectacular, but I wanted to obsess a bit more about the shoes. Oh the shoes. Super high and super glamorous. I am a massive wedge addict, but those aren't just any wedges. Interesting shapes and cut-out detailing make them instantly more chic. The petal ones are so pretty I can imagine feeling like a princess wearing them. And what girl wouldn't want to be a princess at least for a day.
They say every woman should have at least one pair of red shoes in her wardrobe to give her outfits that special something. Can you imagine a better pair than McQueen wedges with intricate beading and gold metallic touch? I can't. Season after season they bring collection of must haves and I am really looking forward to spring now for when these hit the stores.
Have a stylish day.

Buy of the week

Whether we like it or not, it's time to start thinking about winter and get ready to add extra layers into our daily ensembles. I'm a big fan of fur and fur coats are so glamorous. The good news is, there is so much great fake fur around, you don't have to worry about animals suffering. I love this coat by H&M in stores now for £39.99! Bargain! Looking good, staying warm and saving pennies at the same time is a deal no one can resist. See you at the tills.
Have a stylish day.

The return of the mule

In fashion, some things come and go, some never really leave and become timeless classics and some come back, maybe slightly unexpectedly. Take a mule for example. After years and years of stilettos and highest of highs platforms, this seems sudden. Out of a blue comes a return of shoe that many fear wearing. They don't offer that much support and make noises when walking in them. But it makes sense. With the boom of super feminine clothes and lady-like glamour many styles of shoes may be too harsh. It's nostalgia in many shapes and forms. Don't worry though that sky high pumps will disappear, they are still a big hit. But when the likes of Miuccia Prada (both for Prada and Miu Miu) and Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton decide to bring back mules, some changes in footwear are to be expected. And whith the styles they showed, I'm quite excited. Are you? Will you wear mules?
Have a stylish day.

Miu Miu handbags SS 12 edition

Paris Fashion Week finished yesterday, wrapping up the whole fashion month. Wow. Hasn't it gone fast! I'm already working on my mental wish list and trying to figure out how I'm gonna get short shorts and bare midriff ready. Plenty of time..
As a tradition on the last day of PFW, Miuccia Prada showed her Miu Miu collection. This time the clothes seemed more mature but still playful and fun (you wouldn't expect otherwise from Prada). But I decided to concentrate on the bags as I'm a big fan of them (what girl isn't). They were very lady like, quite small(how much stuff do we really need to carry around), vintage inspired and oh so desirable. Made from luxurious fabrics like lace, velvet and satin, I loved the detailing of contrasting handles. The palette was colourful with mainly yellow, pink, red and blue. There was quite a lot of prints, appliqué and interesting detailing. Definitely something for everyone. Which one is your favourite?
PS: how cute are the pink mules in pic 6.
Have a stylish day.
