The return of the mule

In fashion, some things come and go, some never really leave and become timeless classics and some come back, maybe slightly unexpectedly. Take a mule for example. After years and years of stilettos and highest of highs platforms, this seems sudden. Out of a blue comes a return of shoe that many fear wearing. They don't offer that much support and make noises when walking in them. But it makes sense. With the boom of super feminine clothes and lady-like glamour many styles of shoes may be too harsh. It's nostalgia in many shapes and forms. Don't worry though that sky high pumps will disappear, they are still a big hit. But when the likes of Miuccia Prada (both for Prada and Miu Miu) and Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton decide to bring back mules, some changes in footwear are to be expected. And whith the styles they showed, I'm quite excited. Are you? Will you wear mules?
Have a stylish day.

Miu Miu handbags SS 12 edition

Paris Fashion Week finished yesterday, wrapping up the whole fashion month. Wow. Hasn't it gone fast! I'm already working on my mental wish list and trying to figure out how I'm gonna get short shorts and bare midriff ready. Plenty of time..
As a tradition on the last day of PFW, Miuccia Prada showed her Miu Miu collection. This time the clothes seemed more mature but still playful and fun (you wouldn't expect otherwise from Prada). But I decided to concentrate on the bags as I'm a big fan of them (what girl isn't). They were very lady like, quite small(how much stuff do we really need to carry around), vintage inspired and oh so desirable. Made from luxurious fabrics like lace, velvet and satin, I loved the detailing of contrasting handles. The palette was colourful with mainly yellow, pink, red and blue. There was quite a lot of prints, appliqué and interesting detailing. Definitely something for everyone. Which one is your favourite?
PS: how cute are the pink mules in pic 6.
Have a stylish day.

Prada SS 12 at Milan Fashion Week

Italian fashion at its best. Yes, you could say that after the Prada show (I bet many editors and buyers did) and you'd be right. There were few slightly shapeless jackets and coats I didn't like, but let's concentrate on the positives!
I loved the collection! I loved how some outfits were quite simple just accessorised well with some great jewellery and accessories and the overall effect was perfect. I loved that it was full of separates that will just fit easily into your wardrobe and give it a new lease of life. I even loved the cropped tops. Yes ladies! Time to start working on those abs as according to Miuccia, it's time to bare. Sometimes we have to suffer for fashion and in this case it's so worth it.
Also the lady who always comes with something new, gave us cars for new season. Yes you heard right. I'm taking bettings on how many magazines there will be with a car print on cover.
We're only three days into Milan Fashion Week and we've already seen some strong trends. I can't wait to see what Miuccia has in store for Miu Miu and of course the other designers will bring. Make sure to follow me for the best of it all. You can also keep updated on my twitter account ( www.twitter.com/adelastylefile ) and FB page about the latest info.

Vinage Sunday by Elsa Schiaparelli

The rumor has it, that the next exhibition at the fashion institute in Met museum in NYC will be dedicated to Miuccia Prada and Elsa Schiaparelli. After the record breaking McQueen exhibit, they've got hard shoes to fill, but I think these two ladies are up to the challenge. I can already imagine the stunning gowns inspired by them at the next Met Ball gala.
Both of these Italian power women are/were very innovative. Prada's influence in today's fashion world is legendary. Schiaparelli had lots of "firsts" in fashion and she created a runway show as we know it. So to those looking forward to fashion week and attending shows, let's thank Elsa for the idea.
Therefore I think it's more than appropriate to dedicate today's Vintage Sunday to her. Here comes one of her designs. She created many and it's a shame she didn't continue her business after World War 2. Who knows what other genius ideas she may have had.
Have a stylish day.
