love at first sight - by DvF

I love pink! You can probably tell from my blog anyway, but I thought I'd confirm it. I wear a lot of black and white, but pink has a special place in my heart. Usually I accossorize with pink to add a hint of colour to an outfit. Add a nice pink clutch to a simple LBD and it lifts it up straight away. There are so many possibilities and I think if you find the right shade, pink suits everyone. Even a nice pink lipstick when you're feeling down, is guaranteed to cheer you up. So you can imagine how excited I was when I found the above dress. This leather number is by Diane von Furstenberg and available where else than net-a-porter.com (another of my loves). The colour is perfect, as is the cut. Very flattering and great for the party season. This time I suggest very simple accessories, like black clutch, black ankle boots or sandals and a big cocktail ring. There you go, another great outfit sorted. Have a stylish day.

Roland's rainbow

I remember the first time I heard about Roland Mouret. His dresses caused a stir and I could see why. The cut of his clothes just does wonders to a woman's body, creating a beautiful silhouette. They are very elegant and timeless, perfect for when you need to look smart and show that you mean business! When I saw pictures of The Rainbow Project launched by net-a-porter.com I felt really excited. It's a collection of mini dresses and mini skirt suit in bright colours, which are very now! I'd say it's a younger version of his classic style. They are fun and flirty and perfect for the coming party season. And so versatile. You can wear them now with opaque tights and some sexy ankle boots or keep them for the warmer months, just add a tan and nice sandals. Another good thing is that, because the colour is already making a statement you don't need many accessories. Just put them on and you're ready to go. I say snap some fast before they're gone and enjoy the attention. Another exclusive on the net - RM by Roland Mouret available now. Have a stylish day.

bargain hunter

I hate winter. I hate that it's dark all the time, it rains a lot and it's COLD! Lately you could really feel the temperature drop and to cheer myself up there is only one way out - shopping! And with a great excuse, because there is no better time than now, to buy a new coat. I love coats and jackets and I have so many. But there is never too many, as with any other item of clothing or accessory. Now I have to tell you how lucky I was, as I got myself the best bargain ever! I said this before and I'm gonna say it again. I love to mix and match. Little bit of high street, little bit of designer and so on. And my last find proves, you don't have to spend a fortune to look good. I'm talking about my faux fur coat that I got in H&M for £20 in a sale recently. They had a special offer on winter outerwear. How lucky! Since then I had so many compliments about it and everyone thought it cost me loads! So now I'm extra excited as I have something fabulous that didn't break the bank.
Have a stylish day.

Welcome to the world of WWW

I think the biggest growth in internet usage was definitely in the last decade. We got more shopping sites (yay:)), more blogs about fashion and style and generally more info about anything and everything.
The last ten years saw the start of pages like style.com which has become a bible of anyone in fashion or interested in it. Where else can you see all the catwalks from fashion weeks straight after they have finished. Events that used to be exclusive and only for invited, can be watched from the comfort of your home at any time you want. I think it's incredible and am so thankful for all these possibilities as I love browsing the site and checking out future trends well ahead.
And there are the blogs. Countless amount of pages with photos, styling tips, trends, all you can imagine - great for inspiration.
Last but definitely not least is the shopping sites. How much better a life is now with www.net-a-porter.com its outlet outnet.com, and more purse-friendly asos.com and a bargain's hunter heaven e-bay.com. How did we live without it?! I love all these extra options it's giving you not only in purchasing your new fave items, but also showing you whole looks, giving you ideas and so on. What can I say. I am an internet addict, who loves all these new possibilities, spending hours online, looking at clothes, getting inspired, dreaming about new looks and then blogging about it. I hope you enjoy reading it. Have a stylish day.

Past trends - good and bad!

As I told you few days ago, I'm gonna look back at the past decade in fashion, art and beyond. Well today I decided to share my thoughs on trends that stuck in my mind for good and bad reasons. There are things that never really go out of fashion. They may have their highs and lows, but will always be there. One of them for me is Britannia. I love things with british flag. So much has been around but there are times when you can see more of it. Like past two summers and also in summer 2001. I remember that because that's when I came to England and got so hooked that I bought 2t-shirts with little flag - one glittery and the other quite plain. I loved them, but unfortunately they ended up in the bin - oh what a shame, as I could easily wear them again..
One trend I never liked and am hundred per cent sure never will if it comes back (which I doubt) was crocs. Do you remember the ugly plastic shoes with holes in them? Well I never understood the point of them. They got very popular, people claiming how comfy they are. I'd rather suffer for fashion than take a comfort in Crocs.
Other trend I remember well was big again around the time I came to UK. It was Madonna who started it and found a way into my wardrobe. It was sort of celebrity T-shirts. Do you remember the popular songsress on her tour wearing tops with names like Kylie Minogue, Britney Spears and so on? I got a couple of ones with Madonna's name and one with her picture as well. How cool was I?! Again I think they eventually ended up in a bin... It's a shame there isn't enough space for all our clothes we ever buy. I would really enjoy looking back at everything, reminiscing about the times I wore them. I'd probably cringe about some of them, but it would be fun.
Something I really love is goth look as you probably know, if you read my blog regularly. It is something that keeps coming back and it's just so great. You can really play with the style and never get bored with it.
The thing I'm really into right now is big shoulders. It's very 80's - an era that has been very popular for the past few seasons and I'm loving it. I'm not so sure about all those glitters and sequins, but padded or in another way interesting shoulders are my thing. Christophe Decarnin has been one of the designers really into this trend for Balmain and I'm just loving everything by him.
There has been some great things emerging in the last ten years, but it would take a long time to mention them all. Is there anything important that you think I have forgotten? Let me know! And have a stylish day.

Stylists become celebrities..

When you look back into the old days of Hollywood glamour and the fabulous actresses, with great style and grace, you may remember the beautiful clothes they wore and who they were designed by, but that's where it ends. Not that it's not enough, but that definitely changed. Since the beginning of the 21st century, people behind the scenes, especially stylists, have become more and more important and celebrities in their own right. There have been massive growth in programs about style and makeovers, and fashion gurus are making their own headlines.
Look at Rachel Zoe for example. For those who don't know her(shame one you!) she is very popular LA based stylist, working with celebrities on any occasions from photoshoots to Oscars. She has her own TV show The Rachel Zoe project and has been accused for having bad influence on her clients to become really skinny. I'm sure you all remember the big Size zero debate... But she's famous for her work and showing the importance of a stylist.
And who could forget Patricia Field. Ever since working wonders on the wardrobe of The Sex and The City girls, she became famous and got well deserved respect. She is a master of mixing vintage, designer and high street and is inspring to all of us. There has been so many great outfits in the series, then when The Sex and The City - The Movie was about to come out in 2008, it caused a fashion frenzy. Everyone wanted to know what clothes would the characters wear and you could expect some new trends emerging straight after. I really admire Patricia's work and included some pictures. There are so many though, it was very hard to pick just few.. Have a stylish day.

The most shocking news

As I said before, I'm gonna look back at the past ten years and remember the highs and lows in fashion and beyond. For me the most shocking news was when I found out TOM FORD left Gucci. I rembemer that day in April 2004 exactly, as I had to get up really early that day going to work and with my eyes yet barely fully open I could see the massive headlines! At first I thought it was some kind of joke or a mistake. So I purchased a copy and read the whole story in disbelief. It was true!
I was interested in fashion from an early age and was always dressing up and trying to find new ways how to wear old clothes. And when I started reading fashion magazines, my memories are of all Gucci and YSL adverts, all created in the Tom Ford era. To me that was and always will be the best and still very inspiring. My favourite campaign was the season of Goth in autumn 2002. All the clothes were just so beautiful and timeless. When I look now at the collection a think you could easily very it today. It's simple but oh so chic!!! I bought a shirt and a cross necklace inspired by that look and they are both as wearable now as they were back then.
Tom is an amazing designer who has been recognized for his work with many awards and he deserves it all. I wish him only success and hope that one day he will return to designing for women. Plus he is so god damm sexy, just as his clothes..
Have a stylish day.
