Carrie Bradshaw is definitely a style icon. We were glued to our TV screens for six season to watch Patricia Field's creations and the in two movies as well. Although Carrie's style became more commercial and more designer rather than the fabulous mix of unknown, vintage and labels she still dresses well. I still get inspired by some of her outfits and love watching Sex and the city again and again for the stories and the fashion. Remember when she first wore her Carrie necklace? Everyone wanted one and you could get copies everywhere. She made statements and people love it. If the rumours are true there will be a movie number three. I wonder what story they'd come up with next, but mostly what the sassy ladies will be wearing! Let's hope the rumour is true and wait for another feast for eyes. For now here's few outfits from the past.
Have a stylish day.

Style on TV
Today's style post is not dedicated to any individual but to TV programmes. How many of us watch a programme mostly to see the outfits the characters wear. For me the example would be MTV's The City and The Hills. That's where I discovered one of my style icons Olivia Palermo. Millions of women watched Sex and the City not only for the great conversations between the four awesome New Yorkers and to see their lives unfold, but their clothes played a big part too. It put the stylist Patricia Field on radar and Carrie Bradshaw's outfits were copied endlessly. Many got upset when the show finished and probably the same amount rushed to the cinema to see the Sex and The City Movie 1 and 2. Both out on DVD now have a special place in my DVD collection as well as the whole series of course.
But since then the clever people in Hollywood we love our fashionable series and keep feeding us with shows like Gossip Girl and the amazing BBC programme Mad Men. The great outfits help to make stars out of its characters off screen as well. Blake Lively is the new face of Chanel, January Jones became a face of Versace and the list would go on. They all cover endless amounts of fashion mags. Check out stunning Christina Hendricks on November's issue of American Harper's Bazaar here.
Let's admit it. We love it. If shows with sometimes not so great plot lines are our guilty pleasure just to watch the latest fashion, than it's not the end of the world. I'd rather watch Gossip girl than some blood and fights fuelled movie. And as for Mad Men, it's got great reviews and is very well written. So please TV gods keep the fashion feast coming, we'll never have enough.
Have a stylish day.

memorable fashion moments

I love Sex and the City. I admit to owning the DVD boxset and watching it so many times I can't even remember. I really admire Patricia Field's styling and what she achieved with her work. I am a big fan of Carrie Bradshaw's wardrobe and like many other women can't wait for the movie sequel to come out. Now, with the official trailer hitting the screens, plus internet, you get a little preview of what's to come. And there has been a lot of talk about Sarah Jessica Parker collaborating with Halston Heritage, the revamped label thanks to Tamara Mellon of Jimmy Choo. Carrie wears a lot of Halston in the trailer and promo pictures and I'm expecting a copies of the dresses to hit the high street very soon. I predict a lot of unforgettable fashion moments actually and I am very excited. Bring on the May 28!
Have a stylish day.

Stylists become celebrities..

When you look back into the old days of Hollywood glamour and the fabulous actresses, with great style and grace, you may remember the beautiful clothes they wore and who they were designed by, but that's where it ends. Not that it's not enough, but that definitely changed. Since the beginning of the 21st century, people behind the scenes, especially stylists, have become more and more important and celebrities in their own right. There have been massive growth in programs about style and makeovers, and fashion gurus are making their own headlines.
Look at Rachel Zoe for example. For those who don't know her(shame one you!) she is very popular LA based stylist, working with celebrities on any occasions from photoshoots to Oscars. She has her own TV show The Rachel Zoe project and has been accused for having bad influence on her clients to become really skinny. I'm sure you all remember the big Size zero debate... But she's famous for her work and showing the importance of a stylist.
And who could forget Patricia Field. Ever since working wonders on the wardrobe of The Sex and The City girls, she became famous and got well deserved respect. She is a master of mixing vintage, designer and high street and is inspring to all of us. There has been so many great outfits in the series, then when The Sex and The City - The Movie was about to come out in 2008, it caused a fashion frenzy. Everyone wanted to know what clothes would the characters wear and you could expect some new trends emerging straight after. I really admire Patricia's work and included some pictures. There are so many though, it was very hard to pick just few.. Have a stylish day.
