Having winter blues?

For me the winter has been already too long and it officialy hasn't even started yet.. After the wettest November and what seems to be a very cold December, I can't wait to get rid of all the extra layers of clothing and start wearing something nice and colourful. I wanted to get over my winter blues and found blues that are actually fun with added feel-good factor. I'm talking about Alexander McQueen's spring 2010 collection. He is Mr. Cool with very creative brain and never fails to impress me. Flying the flag for british quirky fashion, he is the go-to designer if you're looking for something original. I absolutely love this collection. The colours are amazing, as are the details and shapes. The master of graphic prints didn't dissapoint and I can tell you they will be as big next season as they have been for the past few ones. To me it all looks so magical I am sure we're all gonna crazy for a bit of McQueen's style. Plus I can NOT forget to mention the shoes as there is only one way to describe them - WOW!
Have a stylish day.

purple rain

As I said before I have a thing for all things pink, especially fuchsia and raspberry. Although I have never been into purple. This has of course changed recently. Im becoming obsessed with the cool new colour and it's easy to see why. Not only are the shops packed with all different shades, but also the magazines promote it a lot and many fashionistas wearing it. It is THE colour of the moment and it's hard to resist. I don't like wearing much colour in winter, as it just doesn't seem to fit. But purple is a great solution for brightening up your palette of black, grey and navy. It's suble, but can look really cool. Plus there are so many shades out there, I guarantee you will find to suit you. You can do the easy route and just pick a scarf or a hat, or layer up a top or cardie with formentioned colours. I decided to show here, to do it full on. I found these two great dresses today browsing in Topshop on Oxford street. Both dresses have interesting shoulders which another trend I love. One shouldered dress is a timeless classic. It's very flattering to any shape and looks more expensive. With the second dress I love the sequin detail. Its very now, following the 80's trend. Both look amazing and can be dressed down for the day or dressed up for the evening. Just add opaque tights some killer ankle boots and you're ready to go.

a page in my diary

UK Jewellery Awards

Drapers Awards

Erdem - catwalks show

Today I wanna tell you more about what I do and have been doing for the past few months. Since I finished my course at London College of Fashion I have been gaining experience in tough fashion industry and loving every minute of it. I worked at a few events organized by RAH production company alongside stylists and learning the insider's tricks and trades. These include UK Jewellery Awards at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Sparks Charity fashion show, Pet-a-porter at Harrods and Drapers Awards. Luckily these people have been spreading good word about ne to people in the industry and last week I have recieved a very exciting phone call. Next week I will be working for BBC, shooting make-over programm Snog, Marry or Avoid, working as a part of the styling team. I can't wait and will share more info about this later.
When I'm not working I love to read magazines about fashion and lifestyle to keep up with what's going on and also visit galleries, museums and all sort of exhibitions, which is all really inspiring. On friday I went to see a catwalk show at the V&A Museum by designer Erdem and I really enjoyed it. Usually I work backstage and don't get to see the actual show, so it was really nice. The clothes were just so beautiful. Dresses with lovely detailing and interesting prints were the key items and I could definitely see myself wearing quite a few of them.

leg it

Sass&Bass - animal print leggings (net-a-porter.com)

Preen - leggings (net-a-porter.com)

Alexander Wang - leggings (net-a-porter.com)

Alexander McQueen - pink houndstooh leggings (net-a-porter.com)

For the past few seasons there has been a massive focus on legs. Lacy tights, patterns, leggings with prints, jeggings and so on are a way to go. There are so many amazing styles around it's not easy to pick. But when you do, the hard work is over. Because your legs are making a statement already, you should keep the rest simple, so just a nice jersey top or a dress is enough. Keep the accessories to a mininum as well. Although don't forget a great pair of shoe-boots or ankle boots, because with the attention to the bottom half of your body, the pressure is on. So here we found the perfect solution for the cold weather, plus they can be a cheap way how to update your wardrobe. Stay glamorous and warm, without spending a fortune. I've picked some amazing examples of what is out there, the choice is yours. Whether you go for animal print, dogstooth, lace, stripes, checks, the possibilities are endless, both designers and highstreet.
Have a stylish day.

Fashion in Motion

Today I am very excited, because I am attending Fashion in Motion at my favourite Victoria and Albert museum. It's a series of catwalk shows by well-known designers, that they do once in a while. This time the designer is noone less than ERDEM MORALIOGLU. The half english, half turkish, Royal College of Art graduate is known for his beautiful dresses, use of bold colours and amazing prints. I can't wait to see the collection on the runway and of course report back to you.
He has done a stint in New York for Diane von Furstenberg, which can only be a good thing, and founded his own label Erden with ready-to-wear collection in 2005. Since then he has been very popular with celebrities and worn by the likes of Keira Knightley, Claudia Schiffer, Thandie Newton, Chloe Sevigny and the list goes on. Of course he has been recognized for his work as well. In 2007 he won the Swarowski British Fashion Council Enterprise Award and British Fashion Council's Fashion Forward Award in 2008. He was also nominated by the British Fashion Council for Designer of the Year of 2009. In four years since he entered the fashion world, that is quite an achievement!

British Fashion Council Awards

Kate Moss, Vivienne Westwood, sir Phillip Green (source style.com)

Grace Coddington (source style.com)

Last night was the night that many awaited in anticipation. It was the night of the British Fashion Council Awards, and what an evening it was! Full of celebrities and fashionistas dressed up for the occasion. I was really eager to find out who won the special London 25 award I told you about last month. It was voted by public and it was a one-off award to celebrate the 25th anniversary of London Fashion Week. Kate Moss was the winner, which I'm sure she deserves, as she's been a true fashion icon for years, flying the british flag with her style, that gets copied all over the world. She looked stunning on the night as well, living up to her reputation as a trend-setter.
Other winners included John Galliano for Outstanding Achievement in Fashion Design, Christopher Bailey as a Designer of the Year and so on. I was especially happy for Grace Coddington who won the Isabela Blow Award for Fashion Creator, which is given to a person, whose creativity has been a major inspiration and influence. She is incredibly creative and was the real star of the film September issue overshadowing Anna Wintour.

shoe addict

A girl can never have too many pairs of shoes. Just look at Carrie Bradshaw - she is a good example and an excuse for all of us shoe addicts. Not many things get me as excited as a new pair of footwear. And there are so many types, you have to have at least one pair of each. Like shoeboots, ankle boots, knee lengh, thigh high, sandals, stilletos, ballet pumps, brogues and the list goes on..I am a big fan of wedges for running around but nothing beats a pair of high heel strappy sandals that will lift any party outfit. With Christmas season upon us, there's a great excuse to treat your feet to these gorgeous beauties from Dune (available in their stores as well as online). Not only will you sparkle at any Christmas do and beyond, they will look great with a nice strappy greek style dress in the summer, releasing your inner goddess. Beautiful and practical!
