London Fashion Week Round up

Burberry - season after season I can't wait to see what Christopher Bailey has in store for us. I've sung many praises for him before and I simply can't get enough. Another amazing collection full of animal prints (yay), the best trench coats out there, equisite tailoring.. You name it. CB I salute you!

Osman - minimalistic perfection. Love the assymetric cuts and winter white.

Antonio Berardi - his attention to detail is second to none. Love the cuts and textures.

Can you believe another Fashion Week is over?! What were you favourite shows/looks?
Have a stylish day.

Burberry Prorsum SS 12

If there was an award for the most innovative brand, Burberry and Christopher Bailey would definitely win it. Not only they were the first ones to live stream their show, every season they go even further and keep coming up with interesting ideas. In February they live streamed their show on the big advert screen in Piccadilly Circus and today they did a first ever Tweetwalk. What is it you ask? They posted pictures of outfits shortly before they hit the catwalk on Twitter @Burberry. And I picked some of them and here they are.
It was a star studded event and anyone who's anyone attended, including the Body model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley looking gorgeous in Burberry trench, Mario Testino, Emanuelle Alt, Rachel Zoe, Sienna Miller, Olivier Theysksen! to name just a few.
I remember last season the show finished with a fake snow, just the same as the menswear show previously, plus there were similarities in the design. I was interested if Bailey would do the same again and he did. Just look at the pictures above from the Burberry menswear SS 12 show and you can play spot the difference. The same wood beading is there, similar prints and so on. So it seems Christopher's menswear shows are indicator of what's coming for women.
And what came was of course amazing. Very English, very Burberry. Jewel tones are big for AW and continue into spring. Expect plum, mustard, navy, teal and more. I loved the bright trench in blue and there was another one in sort of mint green. Fabulous! There were lots or prints and stripes. As for the silouethes they are very lady like, lots of pencil skirt and I'm happy to say they keep around knee length. Oh and I must not forget the shoes! Sky-high sandals, open toe booties and wedges (my favourite).
Well done Christopher Bailey, you did it again. Another perfect collection.
Have a stylish day.

Party feet - by Michael Lewis

Today's Party feet post's designer is a Central St. Martins Graduate, whose work I first spotted at London Fashion Week exhibitions. You couldn't overlook his vertiginous heels and I was hooked straight away. In the past, this talented man worked with Tom Ford for Gucci and also his latest SS 11 collection and also with Christopher Bailey at Burberry to name just a few, but he's already been getting praises for his own label.
Michael Lewis's AW 11 collection was inspired by Kubrick's Eyes Wide Shut and features intricate detailing in dark hues. His shoes are very playful and feminine. But they are not for faint-hearted as the cigarette heels and sculptured platform add to serious heights. I am absolutely loving them. Are you?

My top five designers

Last night I couldn't sleep and I was thinking about... Fashion, naturally! About my blogs, you - my readers, what I wanna write about, and especially my favourite designers. Sometimes I've got quite a few post in my head ahead and sometimes I just improvise. Today I'm planning posts about two people whose work I admire the most (don't wanna reveal too much, you will see soon), but you could probably guess as I write about them a lot. So I decided to compile a list of my top five designers.
Number 1 is definitely Tom Ford, but the other four I share equal interest in. Therefor in random order as they came into my head are:
Christopher Bailey
Alexander McQueen
John Galliano
Karl Lagerfeld

All of course very talented and recognised for their excellent work and bespoke creativity. I love their work so much and they are the reason I am interested in fashion and excited to see season after season what they are bringing to us, their vision of beauty that I and many women all over the world are dying to wear. Well done to them all and let's hope they will keep us well dressed and more for many years to come ( sadly except the late Lee McQueen). Salute. Make sure you let me know who are your top five.
Have a stylish day.
PS: the picture above is a cover of book I picked up last week at V&A. Their book shop is a must visit for any fashion enthusiast. It's very well stocked and I could spend hundreds of pounds in there..

Emma Watson - from Hermione to fashionista

For my first style icon I picked Emma Watson. I like most of her fashion choices and think she is a great ambassador of British fashion. Now the last Harry Potter film has come out (part 1), she is promoting the movie and you can see her everywhere. And I can easily understand why she's so popular. She's turned from geeky Hermione to a sexy movie star, she's been on covers of major magazines including Vogue, modeling for Burberry (Christopher Bailey designed few outfits especially for her) and is fashion show's front row darling. Look again at her Vogue Italia shoot, which I love, here. But that's not enough for her. She's studying in America for a degree. Beauty and brain, with a promising career ahead. Jealous? Me?..

The Met Ball

The Met Ball at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York is one of the most glamorous events. This year it saw the opening of the exhibiton American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity which I told you about last month (I'm definitely going to see during my holiday in New York). Here I am bringing you my favourite frocks from last night's event. Thumbs up to Emma Watson for flying the british flag in Burberry. You can see, why she is the face of the label, as she looks stunning in this Chrispher Bailey design.
Have a stylish day.

Christopher Bailey for Burberry

I just watched the live streaming of Burberry show in London and it WAS amazing! Christopher Bailey really is a genius. I especially loved the blue coat, the sexy thigh-high boots, purple coat with fur trim, pinkish skirt with a cropped black leather jacket... I loved it all really. Can't wait to show you the pictures, as soon as I can get hold of some. Amazing!

Emma Watson for Burberry

Not only the whole collection looked great, the campaign is spot on as well. Christopher Bailey was the perfect choice for Burberry. He's turned the label around and it's hotter than ever. And how great Emma Watson looks in the SS'10 campaign! Long gone are the days of Hermione Granger (off Harry Potter). I've already posted her editorial for Vogue Italia some time ago and I'm dedicating her another post. That's something to say! She's fresh faced and represents the brand well, I think. Well done to her, because I believe now she's got onto the fashion radar, she's here to stay.
Have a stylish day.

Burberry Prorsum - Pre-fall '10

To be honest I have never been a massive fan of Burberry. I know their famous trench coats are coveted and very popular, but it's just not my style. But I am a big fan of Christopher Bailey and what he's done to the brand is truly amazing. So I am slowly changing my opinion about this label with a great heritage. I loved his last collection and the pre-fall '10 is so good, I rate it all. Very stylish, wearable and timeless. Just what I like. Looks like they're getting a new fan in me and I'm sure there's loads to follow. And what's the news? Leggings and military style are here to stay...
Have a stylish day.
