Meeting the icons

Yesterday I had a great day full of fantastic appointmens and events. I will write more about the other ones next time, but for today let's concentrate on attending of announcing the winner of the International Woolmark Prize European Award. See bellow Christian Winjants with one of his winning designs and also the official photo of the judges: Dean and Dan of Dsquared2, Alber Elbaz (Lanvin), Tim blanks (style.com), Alexandra Schulman (Vogue UK), Giles Deacon and Christine Arp (Vogue Germany). I apologise for the quality of my pictures as my camera is broken..

It was such an honour to be part of this event and be in the same room as many of my icons! I am the biggest fan of Lanvin's Alber Elbaz and now I love him even more as a person, because he was very funny a generally lovely. He announced the winner and I was hoping to have a photo taken with him but he was busy so I asked Dean and Dan of Dsquared2 instead, who were lovely too.
We sipped champagne and nibbled on canapés and it was a great afternoon.
I wore another sale score from Zara (skirt) and a top from Nelly. Outfit post coming soon.
Have a stylish day.

Stylish day out - top 3 exhibitions of 2012

This year is definitely THE year to live (or visit) London. I have loved it always, but 2012 is set to be the best year yet. There is so much going on, you're spoilt for choice how to spend your days off and I'm talking just about the exhibitions. The fashion industry, shopping, choice of restaurants... that would make a whole new article.
For now I've picked the top 3 exhibitions I think are a must-see. All fashion related. One better than the other. Bring it on.

(Christian Louboutin)
Believe it or not, the house of Christian Louboutin has celebrated 20 years of existence! To mark this anniversary, they recently released a book (coffee table must-have) and are doing lots of great promotions this year. There is an exhibition coming to Design museum and it is something (not only) every shoe lover will appreciate. You will be able to see the whole designing process of famous red soled beauties from drawing to finish and much more. See you there. 19/05 - 06/06

V&A museum has been spoiling us recently. So many great exhibitions to visit. I am super exciting about two displays particularly, one of them being the Ballgowns: British Glamour since 1950. More than 60 designs will be on show, including pieces for social events such as private parties, royal balls, state occassions and many more.
You can expect work by Jonathan Saunders, Alexander McQueen, Jenny Packham, Giles Deacon and Erdem among others. Can May come any faster?

(Holly Golightly from Breakfast at Tiffany's)
Last but definitely not least, is another exhibition at the V&A. They've only announced today, that this is happenning so I haven't got much information for you yet, but I will bring more as soon as I know. It will be called Hollywood costumes and will open this fall. It's an extensive collection of famous costumes of the big screen, including the famous dress of Holly Golightly from Breakfast at Tiffany's, costumes of Jack Sparrow of the Pirates series and many more. Excited? I am!
Have a stylish day.

Giles SS 12 at LFW

The Womenswear part of London Fashion Week is over for another year (it's menswear day today) and what a week it has been! We've seen some great shows and it's hard to pick the favourite. One of the highlights would definitely have to be Giles though. It had pieces that wouldn't be out of place at couture week. The exquisite collection was Giles at his best. I loved the feather detailing and stunning embroidery, digital prints of swans that I bet will be HUGE next season, laser cut outs and much much more. It seemed full of contradictions. There were outfits that looked so delicate, fragile even and other powerful and maybe dangerous. The white, red and black swan headpieces added to the drama. The cuts, the draping, everything was just perfect. Way to go Giles Deacon!
Have a stylish day.

My week at Ascot - day 1

All this week I'm gonna be bringing you a special feature about my week working backstage at Ascot's fashion shows. For those who don't know, let me explain that Ascot's horse racing is the number 1 event in social calendar, with the Queen attending every day. For those who paid hundreds for their ticket, there is a series of fashion shows every day. The designers showing are Amanda Wakeley, Matthew Williamson, Vivienne Westwood and Stephen Jones (with outfits from Giles and shoes by Christian Louboutin). Even though the event for public started only today, we've been here since yesterday, when we did all the preparations and rehearsals. I can tell you it was a very hectic day. I'm gonna be bringing you pics from backstage plus photos of my outfits. Stay tuned.
Have a stylish day.

Cheryl Cole - fashionista

Cheryl Cole has gone from a reality TV star to WAG to nation's sweetheart and a true fashionista and a platinum selling solo artist. In the last year especially, she has been wearing some fabulous outfits, looking great on and off duty. The proof of being a fashion's darling is the amount of front covers she appeard on, including magazines like Vogue and Harper's Bazaar, where you can see her in June issue. She looks stunning and everyone who has worked with her says, she is a nice person as well. She has been a good ambassador of british designers, wearing outfits by Julien McDonald, Giles Deacon and Jonathan Saunders to name just a few. As her career goes from strengh to strengh, I wish her her private life will catch up and will be looking forward to more great outfits by this inspiring woman.
Have a stylish day.
