Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen

For today's style icon I chose not one but two! It's a special treat... Although sometimes they may seen like one. They are 24-year old twin sisters Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. These days their styles vary and it may be easier to recognize them, but at times you couldn't tell them apart. They started their career as babies in the series Full House, apparently because they were the most behaved at the casting, and the rest is a history. String of succesful movies followed and the Olsens brand was born. They managed to raked in millions and have fans all over the world, selling all sort of merchandise under their names. But as their got older and became more interested in fashion, they started to get credit for their fashion choices as well. Especially Mary-Kate with her bohemian look, appeared on many fashion pages. That's probably when they realized their passion for design and launched a collection of clothing The Row.  Eventually they started another one called Elizabeth and James, called after their siblins. They are both very popular and these days they get a regular show at New York fashion week. Both twins are often seen and front rows of shows and a party circuit. I usually love their outfits, althought they've made some bad choices in the past. But who doesn't. I'm definitely interested how their labels are gonna develop though and hope they will continue to do well in the business.

I promised to bring you a post about the designer duo Badgley Mischka and as there is no time like now, here you go. Behind the name and of course the designs are Mark Badgley and James Mischka, who met at Parsons School for design and created their label in 1988. Since then they caused stir in the fashion world, their dresses appearing on covers on most prestigious magazines.
"Our style harks back to the glamorous Hollywood of the fourties" says Mischka. "The Badgley Mischka signature style is simple, streamlined and thoroughly elegant." (taken from their website.)
And may I just add its timeless. That's why I love it. And I'm in a good company. Badgley Mischka is popular red carpet choice of many celebrities and presidential daughters, worn by the  likes of Sarah Jessica Parker, Sharon Stone, Julia Roberts, Kate Winslet.. The list is endless.
But that wasn't enough for them. Since launching they started designing fabulous wedding gowns, footwear, handbags and a contemporary collection Mark + James. And it's all as popular as the main line. Love it all!
