Party feet - sparkles by Jimmy Choo

It wasn't intended to write about Jimmy Choo two weeks in a row, but I saw this picture and it was everything about it, that I knew I had to feature it. The festive season is upon us and with it all the parties that call for sparkle. Even if it's not something you'd wear the whole year round, this time of year you should definitely add some glitter and sparkle to your outfits. Whether it's shoes or bags (or both), get inspired by Jimmy Choo and shine!

Jewelled Wednesday - by Miu Miu

I am slightly obsessed with Miu Miu website (among others). I often check their accessories and jewellery which can be all purchased online. Currently this is my favourite thing, something I wouldn't mind finding under the Christmas tree. It comes in different colours, but of course pink is my favourite. Perfect for dressing up an LBD. See the whole selections of Miu Miu jewels here. They have some amazing stuff if you want to treat someone or yourself.

Funmilayo Deri - the interview

Recently I wrote about Funlayo Deri, a label set up by Funmilayo Csilla Deri (if you missed the post read it again here), and I promised you an interview too. Well here it is! I hope you enjoy it.
Have a stylish day.

1. You're based in London and Budapest, why those two cities? Where are your collections produced?

Both of these cities are home to me. When establishing my label, it was natural to continue to have a base in both. I’m in London most of the time, but spend time in Budapest overseeing production when collections are being made. In addition to being home, London is a young designer-friendly environment. There is a lot of support and encouragement here for emerging talents.

2. How they both inspire you, what inspires you?

Inspiration for me can come from any and everything – movies, theatres, museums, my emotions, experiences, my background, people, to mention a few. London is one of the world’s fashion capitals. I get so much inspiration from daily life here. There’s just a great creative feel to the city. Budapest is a beautiful city, rich in history. The historic buildings and the art scene inspire me.

3. Your label is very young, what have been the highlights so far?

There have been many highlights, and I keep learning and discovering new things about running a fashion business. Some of the highlights this year were when the collections were launched and the results of months of work were showcased to an audience. The first was the catwalk show at Africa Fashion Week in New York which received good coverage by CNN. The second was the exhibition with Felicities Presents during London Fashion Week.

4. What are the plans for the future/goals/dreams?

My ultimate goal is to build a brand that stands the test of time. I will continue to design womenswear and will incorporate accessories, children and menswear.

5. Who is Funlayo Deri woman?

The Funlayo Deri woman is confident, sophisticated, captivating, with refined taste, a woman with a strong sense of style who is not afraid to stand out from the crowd. She is passionate, cultured, loves life and new experiences.

6. Is there any person/ celebrity you would like to see wearing your designs?

I would like to see my clothes worn by women who love fashion, who have their own style and want to wear stand-out pieces. Their clothes don’t define them, but they use what they wear to make a statement. With regard to celebrities, it’s difficult to pick just one, so Zoe Saldana, Halle Berry, Michelle Obama and Blake Lively among others.

It all sounds very exciting and I wish you best of luck.

Vintage Sunday - Karen Mulder

For today's Vintage Sunday I decided to put pictures of Karen Mulder. For no particular reason, other than the fact, she was one of my favourite supers. I remember growing up, collecting images of these beautiful women, dreaming to be like them, when I'm older. She doesn't seem as famous as the others and it's a shame. I mean, look at that face! There is more photos on my tumblr, I hope you enjoy them all. Happy Sunday.

Party feet - Jimmy Choo icons

It was a bit of a shock when Tamara Mellon announced she was leaving Jimmy Choo, the company she set up many years ago. 15 to be precise and as a celebration, they released a book (coffee table must have) and a special edition of shoes inspired by their archives called ICONS. See the whole collection here. And iconic they are. These beauties are the perfect statement accessory and will transform any outfit. They are not just shoes but a collectors item. Great present for any shoe/Choo lover.

Outfit inspirations

For today's Outfit inspirations post I used all garments from the past. Nothing new, all from net-a-porter.com. So you see new ways how to wear what you may already have. I started with the Christian Louboutin boots, because it's become so cold boots are the only way to go. Then I decided for the  black skinnies, because they are a wardrobe staple. And then I just played around with the rest. What do you think?
Burberry Brit biker £895
Adam skinnies £825
Chinti and Parker jumper £350
Isabel Marant earrings £200
Valentino bag £1350
Christian Louboutin boots £995

Introducing: Danny Tang

Danny Tang was born in Malaysia, where he excelled in Fashion studies and started working with a fashion designer when he was 16. He moved to London in 2004, where he attended London College of Fashion and worked as a succesful freelance designer and stylist. In 2009 he launched his label Danny Tang, initially a line of accessories, that was so popular that it led to designing a full clothing line.
His debut AW 10 collection was shown with the help of Vauxhall Fashion Scout and was a huge success. He now shows internationally at New York, London, Paris, Shanghai and Tokyo.
The SS 12 collection was inspired by Danny's travels through Japan. The sculptural designs were influenced by Japanese architecture. Danny Tang's signatures like texture, volume of fabrics and combinations of hard and soft outlines are well visible. All finished with delicate hand beading, the result is quite striking. Here are some pictures of outfits I loved at a press day, but make sure you check out DT's website too.
